Fucking hell, he DOES.

Man United fans: is Lee Grant the other player who's been leaking stories to the press? I'm pretty sure Lingard was confirmed as a leak because Toesucker mentioned he'd been talking to him about stuff going on behind the scenes at United.

Memorex MP3

Players pay income tax on that too don't they? Fuck all chance most football executives pay anything like that on their income streams.

Re Mané's spending habits, the Upshot agrees:
QuoteAs Sadio Mane prepares to ditch Liverpool for Bayern Munich, everyone is asking the same question: why?

It's probably as simple as money. The forward is believed to earn £100k a week at Liverpool - less than the likes of James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Bayern are offering him £250k.

In his native Senegal, this is widely seen as proof that their hero doesn't get the respect he deserves on Merseyside, especially compared to Mo Salah. Salah v Mane is in some ways the Messi v Ronaldo debate of Africa.

Besides, if anyone should cash in, it's Mane - the 30-year-old sends most of his money to Senegal. He has spent more than £1 million on schools, hospitals, a petrol station and a post office in his home village, and he gives every family there £60 a month.

Every town should produce one megastar football player so they can fund the entire area.

Not so much as a single sentence spent considering the possibility that Bayern might be as big as, if not bigger than, Liverpool

Why is it relavent?

He left because Liverpool were unwilling to break their salary structure to keep him. He is getting roughly the same at Bayern that he was reportedly requesting to sign an extra on. Mane only wanted the move after we wouldn't budge on our contract offer and the club were happy to sanction it.

Liverpool have shown in the recent past that they will not make the mistake again of offering high long term contracts when it might be cheaper or more profitable in the long term to let the player to and replace them.

It is like when we refused to give Emre Can a big contract he was asking for and let him go free and spent £30m on replacing him. Seems silly in the short term but has paid dividends. It is looking likely we will do the same with Salah, unfortunately.

Utter Shit

It's relevant because the question is "Why is Mane leaving Liverpool for Bayern?", but then they basically answer their own question without giving any thought to other possibilities. The implication being that it couldn't be for any other reason than the wages. It's the sort of discussion you expect to see when the buyer is a newly-monied midtable team rather than one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Because we know that Liverpool refused to meet the contract demands and agreed to sell in order to partially fund a replacement. Mane wanted to move in order to go to a club who would pay the higher wages.

Someone might want to move to another club and might consider another club bigger but that clearly wasn't the case here.

bgmnts

If he wanted a move for money then yeah I don't think it matters. Unless he was given a choice between Bayern and Bristol City or something.

DrGreggles

He'd won everything with Liverpool, probably has one big contract left in his career and Bayern can offer him more money + Liverpool recoup the transfer fee for a player who'll be out of contract next year.
The deal makes sense for all parties.

Incidentally the 100k a week he was on was when he first joined, he was on the same as the other big players for the past few years.

Who will be the biggest waste of money this summer? My bet is on Raphinha. Can already feel the price creeping up and up and bigger clubs getting involved. Someone's going to end up paying stupid money for him and is he really that good?

I'm fairly confident some clown in a suit at United will manage to spunk an obsence amount of money on someone completely unsuitable, then sack ten Hag within 12 months for not getting a tune out of them. It follows in the pattern of di Maria, Lukaku, Pogba, Mkhitaryan...

Either that or we get nobody.

I wish he knew we all love and accept him and he doesn't have to play up like this :(

The new Liverpool lad needs to hit the ground running at that price, but realistically it'll be someone Newcastle sign won't it.

Seems like that to me. Won everything, owes fans nothing, will still make Liverpool a profit.

Not a change that's without knock-ons though. Guaranteed league winners medal in another country = Increased global profile = more money.

At least he didn't go to Real/PSG/Barca/Man city.

Ah, the death of a footballer's career.

Just need to not get injured before November, literally all he needs to do!

Kankurette

Jittlebags

You say that, but it gives him a run of games and then a break before the World Cup

Kankurette

Hopefully the good kind of break. Wales needs him getting injured like a hole in the head.
