I've been enjoying these clips on what seems to be the official Eurotrash Youtube channel

https://www.youtube.com/c/EurotrashTV/videos

It seems like there isn't really anywhere to watch old Eurotrash episodes online? Just the odd clip here and there. I do enjoy the old VHS quality bits on Youtube.

My partner, who is not from Europe and had never heard of the show, is quite amazed to see Jean Paul Gaultier just presenting a silly telly show, and mucking about with megafamous supermodels from the era.

It really was a weird show wasn't it? But strangely excellent. Wouldn't work now because you can just google mad foreign shit or tits. The scouse voiceovers and all that make me laugh every time.

Anyway where can I find full episodes? Cheers.

edit - I've just done a bit of reading and discovered another show I've never heard of, called Baadasss TV. Does anyone remember that?

Goldentony

Can't help on episodes sorry but 2019 in Berlin I was idling about with a few mates and we wandered into a gallery because it had the artist couple with bald heads and pink dresses who were on Eurotrash all the time and we asked how much to get in and it was something demented like 25 euro and honestly since we only knew them frrom Eurotrash we got the feeling it was going to be polaroids of people eating shit or something so swerved it so as we politely left on the way out we saw the two of them sat in the empty otherwise place having a cup of tea and a chat watching us as we fucked off out

I will bring the tone down immediately and say i vaguely remember it being smutty and being one of the first shows where i would try and find boobs. I may have totally misremembered though.

I reckon if I went back and watched it now then i'd be blown away by how cool it was but i cant be arsed.

famethrowa

Loved it! It was so free and anarchic that the smut didn't matter. Obviously the name "Jean Paul Gaultier" was the great satan to me at the time, what with all that awful supermodel culture. So I was quite wrong-footed to see him as a funny, likeable chap. Enjoyed the no-budget style and the regional voiceovers as Mobius mentioned. One favourite was "The Amazing Randy", some kind of crap magician who used his silver-wrapped knob as a wand. Did the always-funny thing of hanging on too long at the end of the sketch as the smile faded. In fact, Mrs Famethrowa still says "that's amazing, Randeh!" at appropriate times.

The general premise of 'aren't foreigners weird, eh?' looking back was a very English thing.  Pretty sure there wasn't a French TV programme taking the piss out of cheese rolling or whatever.  It was all carried it out the most wonderful style, loved it.  Watched a clip of it and had to remind myself that I wasn't watching a parody.  Literally the first time I've watched it without the sole purpose of seeing boobs.

Alberon

Makes me feel old. The go-to shows I watched as a kid for boobs was OTT in it's brief run and a Canadian sketch show called Bizarre which regularly featured nudity.

beanheadmcginty

That little Belgian fella who lived life as a penguin used to make me feel queasy when he ate whole raw fish.

iamcoop

It was my first real wank fodder as a youth until Channel 5 started showing all the softcore stuff.

Shannon Tweed deserves some sort of honour from Her Maj for services to 12 year old school boys (or school bitches, could be a woman) in my opinion.

nothing quite like an 'ironic wank'.

Sebastian Cobb

Going from memory the whole concept does sound very questionable but in some ways it was probably more tounge in cheek and self-aware than some of the other 'straighter' bits of trashy titillation like Sexcetera and that.

madhair60

i used to think the opening credits had a lady doing a poo in them

Nothing like seeing some suave middle aged Italian porn producer  being given a Geordie accent as he recited some sexist Italian proverb. Used to put me right off my stroke.

I actually think the show is taking the piss out of the English, not funny foreigners. There seems to a recurring "this is all great fun, and the English are prudes who don't join in" running throughout. Anton & Jean are constantly ripping on Brits. It was filmed in France, and according to the Wiki cost quite a bit per episode - though was purposely made to look amateurish to give it a unique style.

I love how with the regional translations, you aren't sure which are legit translations and which are just taking the mick.

Anyway, have tried really hard to find full episodes online in the last few days, and had no luck :( Barring the uploads from the official Youtube channel, everything out there is just the odd bit recorded on VHS. I assume it never got a proper DVD release due to various licensing issues. Shame, was nice to have something my partner enjoyed watching that was also full of tits and fannies.

imitationleather

Pretty sure that years back it used to be on 4oD or whatever it's called now.

Nowt anymore, though. Fiddlesticks.

thr0b

There was a new episode back in 2016, due to Brexit. Must get around to watching it some day.

And yes - lots of licensing problems with the series. It used to get repeated on Paramount Comedy with entirely different theme music.

At one point, there was a big torrent on The Box or UKNova. And now there isn't.

(I think it did get shown in other European countries as well. Presumably with their local own comedy accents dubbed.)

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

All I remember about Baadasss TV was Ice T doing a dance in the opening credits, dressed like a pimp with a cane.

From what I recall I watched eurotrash as a kid to see tits and laugh at weirdo foreigners but that was me as an 8 year old. I think the point was actually quite different for adults because the Brits view the Europeans as sophisticated and superior so maybe it was our way of punching up and trying to bring them down to earth with us

Brundle-Fly

Kate Robbins used to watch some of the unedited footage before adding her voiceover and said it was eye poppingly explicit, verging on illegal.

I still have season 1 on a hard drive somewhere, so I'll dig it up and share it with you as soon as.

Nice! Thanks pal

The best bits were the shit pop songs that got featured, eg one I still remember is a dance single released from a porn version of Hamlet called "To Fuck or Not to Fuck"

Only season 1 is "out there", sadly.

Yup, I watched it for boobs too when I was a young'un. I can say that, for all its risquéness, they made it remarkably difficult to wank to. I'd often abandon the wanks and end up sort of enjoying it for what it was. The lyrics from one of the musical acts have stuck in my head to this day.

I just checked, and I also have a Christmas special from 1997, the "Song For Eurotrash" special, and "Unzipped", which was the DVD release I think? It is weird how completely it seems to have disappeared from the internet, given how popular it was.

EDIT: There's a Youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/EurotrashTV - which was publishing "new" highlight videos as recently as yesterday, so they may get round to putting up full episodes at some point.

Mister Six

I remember being astonished to find out Jean Paul Gautier was a fashion designer and not just a TV presenter. I think when I saw the behind the scenes documentary for The Fifth Element.

dissolute ocelot

If you want to see naked people, Eurotrash was a lot more educational than Naked Attraction. Another sign of Channel 4 dumbing down.

I'd like to say it kindled my interest in contemporary art. Maybe Jeff Koons.

There was a lot of laughing at Germans. One memorable line was "It's not zat we blame zer Germans for ruining the 20th century for ze rest of us - well, maybe just a leetle beet - but that they have so much money and such bad taste!"
