Closing on April 26th. Like many people I tried to avoid them since Amazon took over but they were the only affordable option for some stuff. Probably not such a big issue for UK readers as there seem to be decent alternatives but it's difficult and expensive to get small press publications from the US in the EU, for example. A tragic case of a corporate behemoth taking over a good and innovative business only to scupper it.

Yeah, I tried not to use them because of the Amazon ownership but it's not uncommon for them to be the only reasonable option to get certain things in Ireland.

I'd heard a big chunk of their business was selling into Australia (back when they could avoid the GST, making everything 10% cheaper). I guess now Amazon has their own shit Australian site (and warehouses and everything) that was one of BD's main supports knocked out - no reason to compete with yourself, especially now the price difference is no more.

The last one I got had some kid's recommendation of Harry Potter on it. Yeah, real deep cut there, Christelle from Hong Kong.
