anything that isn't just that he won't release a film? i'm just saying this seems strong. i'm not trying to wind you up, it's really that it is quite a thing to say! maybe we could start a hashtag campaign, based on freeing zaslav's "imprisoned" movies. we could call it #FreeZaslavs. that last part was more facetious, sorry.

i'm actually impressed by your conviction; my personal take is that i am okay with him being alive, but i would like him to pack it in. i don't have strength of will though so if you tell me to i will change my views entirely.

Quote from: Ferris on February 10, 2024, 12:08:17 PMHang on, if they don't release this it doesn't just gather dust on a shelf somewhere - it gets deleted?? Why?

Supposedly they only get the tax break if the film no longer exists - if it's just on a shelf somewhere then they can still release it one day so no write off.

This just feels like the next logical step in the already firmly established "my predecessor greenlit this movie so if it tanks all the bad press is on my leadership but if it succeeds they get all the credit so let's just bury it" cinematic universe. The real enemy here is a tax system that gives you a tax credit for destroying an existing creative work (or maybe the accountants who figured it out) - an exec* who decides to take some easy money burying a project that no longer fits the current corporate strategy seems pretty much the standard for business everywhere

*who is still scum

Obviously, but I can't be arsed going through it.

They could take it to PC World, get a drive upgrade

You have to admit it would be very funny if Warner Bros killed him for a tax writeoff

I would never have heard of this Wile E Coyote film if it wasn't for this controversy, so probably never would have watched it. Yet now that I have heard of it, I'm intrigued by it, enough that I would want to watch it if I could. But obviously I'm never going to get to see it either way.

I really hope this backfires on the WB executives somehow, preferably leaving them with blackened faces and enough time to give a look in the direction of the audience before they plummet to the ground beneath them.

They should destroy this film by dropping it off a cliff or crushing it with a giant Acme weight.

idunnosomename

it would just catapult back up and into Gary Glitter's prison cell where he would fill the disk space with child pornography.

if it's a good script I don't see how it's not a winner. everyone loves Road Runner cartoons. to a degree, by the point they started in the late '40s, they were a partial sendup of the cat and mouse genre by taking it to ludicrous extremes for how stupid the "cat" was and how invulnerable the "mouse" was. but fuck me they are funny

that's fair. i will just file him away into the same space as a paedophile

Today it'll be announced if this will be shitcanned or not. I have my doubts.

dissolute ocelot

Could they not just rename it to Generic Wolf Movie and CG a turkey over Roadrunner? Generic wolves are always suing people.

madhair60

remember that if the coyote space jam gets canceled we must kill zaslav.

Don't fully understand why WB won't release this but are happy to let Kevin Costner make a two part boreathon western.

Also looks like they might have shelved a new remake of 'Salem's Lot

QuoteStephen King is calling out Warner Bros. for holding off on releasing Salem's Lot, which had been set to release in 2023.

The horror book author took to social media to share his thoughts and update his followers that he had seen the film and was pleased with it.

"Between you and me, Twitter, I've seen the new Salem'S Lot and it's quite good," King shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff."

He continued, "Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it's embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the fucking things."

idunnosomename

Seems incredible he doesnt have an adamantium NDA on him against commenting on the film like that.

Pic of a set leaked in 2022

Truly a ringing endorsement.

PlanktonSideburns

Considering I've seen roadkill with glowing reviews from Stephen King, I'm assuming the Salem's Lot reboot is being buried somewhere with that sign with all the sad angry faces to disuade future aliens from digging it up

madhair60

wow incredible? emotionally resonant in a very earned way?? earned was it? shut the fuck up forte, you hollywood worm.

C_Larence

why is it so hard to imagine someone being proud of something they made?

haha, what? you think i can't imagine that? what a weird leap. .you don't understand the very concept of pride in one's work, it's alien to you. fucking bizarre, no offence, genuinely hope the movie comes out.

madhair60

i just feel like if you say your own film is "emotionally resonant in a very earned way", you should be set on fire on public. i mean no offence by any of this

Goldentony

when he typed LOOK he imagined himself making a sort of 'offer on a car' face and then pointed his hands outwardly when he said the rest of it after

elliszeroed

Maybe he had a producers credit was expecting a % of the gross of the backend or something.

I know nothing about the movie business.
