Playstation 5 as UHD player

Now that I've got a new telly, I'm looking for a UHD player to go with it. My initial thought was to get a PS5 and use it as opposed to a standalone, comparably priced, single function player.

I know it probably won't have all the bells and whistles of a dedicated player, but I'm not looking for anything ultra high end, given the amount of films I'll end up watching. With that in mind, the PS5 seems like a cost effective compromise.

So, is it a decent player and more broadly, is it a console worth having?
