Yeah, I think it could be interesting now as we actually get to know the real Matt and Jay more how much of that bleeds in to the actual show/movie. Once they went out of the house I had a real feeling of "oh, here they go!"

Also, I hadn't seen this before but I thought it was really interesting:

No exciting news or anything unfortunately, but a nice little new vid from them for MEGA64

Love Jay's cheeky grin when the guy
Spoiler alert
in the store says its more about the music than the announcements

Lovely stuff

Loved that, had to keep stopping and putting it back to watch bits again. Filmed at the intersection of Dupont and Davenport, location fans.

Could not believe the Mega64 boys got this to happen. The first Nirvanna the Band episode in five years! I only dipped into the 64X stream at the beginning - I heard some of Matt's announcements but didn't even realise it was him

VelourSpirit

Feels like coming full circle after they talked about Mega64 in this video. Matt does actually criticise them a little but more for their early DVD stuff that he felt wasn't realising their potential.

This has made me really happy this morning

"In fact there was no dialogue in that game. Link just went doop! Doop!"

Turns out they just sent Mega64 the footage and Rocco actually edited it, which is mad, their editing is obviously so important and Rocco captured it perfectly. The only note they gave him was to add music over the end of the shop scene, which he did in the official upload, and also cut some of the scenes down:

Yea the edit is really perfect, fair doos

More details about the movie, it's starting to feel very real.

Heavily inspired by A Confederacy Of Dunces, my favourite book, so that's very exciting for me (although I feel like that being your favourite book is like The Big Lebowski being your favourite film, ie you a basic bitch).

Very slightly less excited by it being a road movie, although hopefully that's simply so that they can get fully involved with the public without being recognised, rather than they think it's an original idea.

Anyway, it's apparently very real!

I believe Blackberry is getting a full UK release next month. I wonder if he'll be over to promote it at all.

Fat Pasha (middle eastern place) round the corner is excellent. Lovely patio bit at the back.

I doubt it as I think they're in the middle of filming the movie right now, Jay posted some photos on his instagram story yesterday from the inside of an RV

edit: I also doubt it because it was released three days ago and it didn't happen. Didn't realise your post was from a few weeks ago!

Minor thing, but Matt Johnson came in at 49 on Toronto Life's list of Top 50 Most Influential Torontonians 2023:

Quote

When it came out in May, BlackBerry was met with an avalanche of accolades: a 98 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, number three on the Globe and Mail's list of greatest Canadian comedies ever and comparisons to David Fincher's Facebook biopic, The Social Network. Known for scrappy indies like The Dirties, Johnson isn't interested in competing with American blockbusters; in fact, he's fiercely lobbied Telefilm Canada to get more money for first-time filmmakers. BlackBerry is by far his most commercial outing to date, but it's still arty enough to generate awards-season buzz.

Friends in high places: Johnson had an epistolary friendship with J. D. Salinger until the author's death, and he communicates daily with Calvin and Hobbes creator Bill Watterson.

Didn't know that about Salinger and Watterson, wtf
