Got a Pico 4 as a mild upgrade from the Quest 2.  Pancake lenses are nice. I wouldn't normally suggest it as an upgrade though unless you're in PCVR literally every day (sometimes for several hours) like I am, in which case it's a nice tweak to the experience and a little more comfortable to wear for a while due to the weight distribution, and I can justify it from how much I use it.

I have Walkabout Golf with just the standard courses and thinking of buying a few more. What are the best ones to go for?

In computer game golf are you allowed to play as someone from Curb Your Enthusiasm and just stand around chatting?

I'm currently housesitting for someone who has a Quest 2 and I am fully convinced it is what has been missing from my life and I desperately need one. It appears the Quest 3 is coming out this autumn with an pricetag of from £499.99. If they have managed to sort out the field of view issues and I can find someone to change my IV drips I'm never coming back out to reality.

I designed my avatar to look like Larry David. Couldn't find any swans to murder though.

For absolutely no reason I played Arizona Sunshine yesterday and it was brilliant. Zombie survival FPS, good laugh, and I only abandoned it last night when it forced me to go into a mine and use a flashlight along with my pistol. I'm not brave enough (yet) but I'll power through eventually.

You played Robo Recall @Ferris ? I like that one. Robots-gone-wrong shooter/survival.

I'm a bit too pathetic to do survival shooters really, they push all my anxiety buttons. Games with "wave" type play where you're gonna be overrun eventually, but you have to do as best you can give me the fear, and annoyingly that was the first AS mode I played. I never used to be like that - as a child I loved the TimeSplitters 2 zombie wave mode so presumably something traumatic rewired my brain between now and then (and actually I could make some guesses but this is a VR gaming thread not a psychiatrist).

I played the campaign of Arizona Sunshine last night after my partner had gone to bed so I was all alone in my video games bunker/basement and I couldn't hack it when the concept of "do it all, but now with a flashlight" became a mechanic. Nope, switch off, that's the end of that.

I guess what I'm saying is: how scary are these robots?

Missed this post entirely - I love walkabout golf. All the bonus content is worth getting, honestly. It's a brilliant game. I'll check which ones I ended up paying for.

Once you figure out you can fly and there are some (basic, admittedly) puzzles and scavenger hunts on the maps... phwoarr. To paraphrase Stewart Lee, it is far better than it needs to be.

Just a heads up that Now TV have discontinued their twatty little desktop app which means you can now watch their shows in VR via Virtual Desktop. Got no idea if they've still got the DRM slapped on the sport and films though.

Does anyone have any interest in the Quest 3?

I have the Quest 2 and doesn't look like there's enough of a leap forward to upgrade

Quest 2: 1832x1920 resolution per eye, up to 90Hz refresh rate

Quest 3: 2064x2208 resolution per eye with 90Hz refresh rate

Quest 2: Snapdragon XR2 processor

Quest 3: Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor

Quest 2: 128GB or 256GB storage

Quest 3: 128GB or 512GB storage

Quest 2: 6GB RAM

Quest 3: 8GB RAM

Quest 2: 2-3 hours of battery life

Quest 3: 2-3 hours of battery life

And the Quest 2 is half the price atm. I was thinking of the Quest 3 for the kids for Christmas but I could get them a Quest 2 each..

Although the auto guardian boundary setup of the 3 does look slick.

Quest 3 has mixed reality capabilities. That I really don't give a fuck about. Not planning to upgrade my Quest 2 here.

Ferris

Considering my Quest 2 mostly gathers dust, I won't be upgrading any time soon. It scratches the itch well enough.
