Global Grooves and Ghetto Funk

Despite knowing very little about it, I'm finding global dance music incredibly exciting at the moment.  I'm talking about about the bass-heavy township beats and strange, chattery dubstep that gets pumped out of soundsystems from Notting Hill to Dakar to Montevideo and back again.  Music like reggaeton, nuevo cumbia, kwaito, cumbiaton, patois-heavy Carribean hip-hop, Angolan kuduro, etc, etc.

It's not always easy to track this kind of stuff down, but blogs like Ghetto Bassquake and mudd up! have been at least slightly informed about it.  Otherwise, I'm just a hopeless, pasty-faced idiot who's only barely scratched the surface and wants to delve deeper.  Do we have any experts in the house?

Anyway, there's a link here to a mix by Brazilian DJ Maga Bo, promising a mix "heavily influenced by the sounds of South African Kwaito, the Grime music of the UK, as well as the Baile Funk of Rio's favelas and Ragga Dancehall sounds of the Brazilian reggae/hiphop scene....."  Downloading it as we speak.

I've been listening to DJ /rupture's Uproot mix over the past week or so, and it's also well worth tracking down.

I'll post a few downloads later on, but does anyone else have any exciting stuff to share?

I thought this thread deserved at least one reply.

Just to bring your attention to this mix of genre busting music by Phoreski that is peppered with world dance music gems. If anyone downloaded that Mark Seven mix I posted a link to months ago then you'll probably like this.

Also if anyone bothers to download this mix and have a listen could they try to identify two tracks for me. The first is the second track in the mix at 3.30, I'm sure it's a Zappa track. I'm probably wide off the mark but the guitar sound in it is reminiscent of 1980's Zappa. Also there is a track that starts at 47.40 that has the meanest Disco strings and horns combo I've heard. I'd love to know who it's by.

Yay!  A reply!  Cheers - downloading now.

I'm also really enjoying this globetrotting mix of merengue, Coupé-Décalé, etc. from a bloke called Cheif Boima.  It's a bit of mess, mixwise at least, but has lots of interesting ingredients:
