You'd be amazed at how much you can get a person to do if you ask them confidently. That's a running theme in Morris's work, and also the secret to how he makes his hoaxes work. If you talk with conviction and authority, people will usually suppress their suspicions and go along with you.

Plus, you can always find an excuse. In the case of FUKD and BOMBD, Morris could've told unconvinced celebrities that the names were designed to sound, er, "street smart" or what have you.

And look at it from the celebrity's perspective: ultimately, whether what you've been hired to present is serious or satirical, you're still getting paid, and it's probably a lot of money for a relatively small amount of work. At some point, some of the celebrities probably thought "I think this a hoax, but do I really want to give up a day's pay and inconvenience everyone just because of that?"
