I was a dainty size nine from age 14-30ish, then a recent footy growth-spurt seems to have pushed me up to a 10 1/2. Either that or there's some sort of international cobblers' conspiracy to bring down the sizes designed specifically to make people's feet feel self-concious about their shape and thereby sell more shoes. I wouldn't put it past them - everyone that has anything to do with feet is a bit shifty: foot fetishists, chiropodists - weirdos one and all if you ask me. Just look at that Al Bundy.

I'd glad someone's mentioned the growing feet thing. I was always led to believe your feet stop growing in your 20s. So, although I'm not a regular hiker type I decided to treat myself to some nice top o' the range Scarpas. Ten years later I can't get them on. Hardly bloody worn 'em.
I never wear shoes and had a similar problem with a nice pair o' those I treated myself to. Even with the insoles removed and weeks on a stretcher thing I can't get 'em on without a lorra lorra pain.

I put continued growth down to wearing good trainers with plenty of room to move and Teva's and their ilk allowing plenty o' growth too. I hadn't heard about feet shrinking until I saw this thread.
