Delocated season 4 is looking good.

Decent discounts etc this week. x2 rewards on all the original heists. I'll be doing them rather than the god awful Casino heist. Hate it.

Quote from: letsgobrian on August 07, 2021, 09:59:36 PMThe original heists have to initially be played in a certain order.
The three Doomsday Heists have to be played initially in a certain order too. You can do these without doing any of the original heists.
The Casino Heists you can pick and choose from 3 approaches.
Cayo Perico Heist you can customise your approach every time should you want to.

Each of these require some sort of in-game property (or submarine) purchase before you can start the heists yourself, but you can join other people setting them up without purchasing.

The original heists need a High End Apartment. ($200,000+)
The Doomsday Heist needs a Facility. ($1,250,000+)
The Casino Heist needs an Arcade. ($1,235,000+)
Cayo Perico needs a Kosatka submarine. ($2,200,000+)

The original heists will need 4 people for the majority of them (the first only needs 2). The Doomsday Heist & Casino Heist can be done with 2-4 people. Cayo Perico can be done 1-4.

At this point I would get a High End Apartment then aim for the Kosatka. As I've said before, currently the Cayo Perico heist is the best way to earn cash. If you can find someone who'll take you on that heist a few times you'll easily get enough cash to get your own sub and then you can get that Facility & Arcade once the money comes rolling in.

Woo! 🍾 I had been bearing this guide in mind for the last 3 months since buying the game... I finally saved enough money (200k) to get a "High End Apartment" (getting to level 30 in the process, incidentally) ...but when I go to the menu to buy the cheapest "High End Apartment" what do I find? There's a perfectly good one next to the airport for free!

This isn't an accusation, @letsgobrian - I figure that this was a calculated freebie that Rockstar introduced at some point recently, in order to get newbies further in the online game quicker - they really know how to suck you in when you're just about to lose interest! The last time this happened I was totally demotivated about my shitty car, and the amount of grinding it would take to upgrade to anything decent, when I realized that I could get a really nice one completely for free: a red one called Gran Turismo (sp.?)

On that topic - I still have the 200k I had earmarked for the high end apartment. Can I get an armoured car for this price? And which gun do I buy to leverage my in-car shooting damage? How much do I have to save up before I can effectively hunt down randos in the street while still sitting in my vehicle? So many of the missions seem to depend on it.

Malcy

Discounts on Kosatka's, Luxury Yachts and loads of vehicles including bloody opressors which means the lobbies will be even more filled with annoying bastards!

500k login bonus this week as well so that should be good for you Retinend. If you have Prime Gaming you get 100k a week for playing if that's any use to you.

Fake news. Despite being listed as a "high end apartment" it doesn't work as a hub for the heist, and I had to end up paying 200k for Del Perro Heights, anyway 🤷

To be honest I had presumed I had merely earned it, but you're right, I'm 500k richer than before!

Is it true that if you dont deposit your money with the internet banking app, then someone can "mug" you and steal that entire 500k?

I think theres an upper limit to how much you can mugged for, maybe a few thousand. Muggers are laughably ineffective anyway, they knock you down and run, so all you need to do is run after them and shoot them to get your money back.

bgmnts

What do you actually do on this? Tried to a mission a few times called Community Outreach but one player always gets killed , but the open world is a bit empty. My dogshit internet makes it worse obviously but i'm at a loss as to what i'm meant to be doing.

I felt the same way when I first started. Would wait for an invite to pop up from another player and join their group to do a job, just kept grinding that. Then bought a bunker and started running guns. From there the Motorcycle Club to do cocaine and meth missions, then the Kosatka and Cayo Perico, plus doing VIP work like Headhunter (with the Akula) and Haulage (with the Mobile Operations Centre) to round out the moneymaking.

Don't have a Facility or Casino penthouse yet. Depending on which version of the game you purchased, you might have a free motorcycle clubhouse waiting for you. I found during the early grind, having a car that I really enjoyed driving kept me coming back, in my case the Pegassi Monroe.

Life also got a lot easier once I discovered the interaction menu.

Ferris

How does buying property work - is it using the same map as the offline story? Or do you buy "the penthouse" on a server, or do you have your own little private house stored separately (and if so, why have a penthouse if you are closed off from the world)?

I like the idea of this but I still don't really understand it.

QDRPHNC

Properties are online-only. Different properties give you different things. Some you can store your cars, some give you access to unique missions, heists and vehicles, some you can use to store stolen property before selling it for profit. You also need an office to run certain businesses.

You may have earned it or just got the 500k early. It says it will be deposited in your account after Dec 2nd. I'll check mine later.

Bought the sub and tried Cayo Perico. Didn't like it. Couldn't sneak past anyone (I HATE stealth in games) so decided to try swimming to the other side and just switched it off. Will need to have a good look at a walkthrough.

H-O-W-L

Muggers can only take 10k from you at once iirc. You lose more cashh on hand than you do from your bank if you die but these are the only risks of cash on hand. I've had somewhere near 600 million on-hand since 2018 and never lost much of it from deaths etc.

first time I tried it I tried swimming around as well but (unless there's some special spot I didn't bother googling) i think it's actually impossible. all these spots on cayo that on the main map would be climbable are slippy and you end up straight back in the water.

pain in the arse but there's a pretty good way of getting across the map with a motorbike, leaping over a ramped bit of the terrain when the watchtower guy isn't looking etc. don't know if that applies in the first go or the replays mind.

also, once you're redoing the heist in future you can do that trick disconnecting at the end so you can just redo the heist repeatedly without redoing all that stealth prep. tons of money in the space of a few hours.

letsgobrian

If you can't get on with the GTA Online stealth, find a disguise when you scope out the island and use that approach instead.

My approach is:

Scoping out the island
Get a map of all the spawn points on the island.
Check the airport office porch and the balcony near the shed behind the office for a uniform.
Failing that, take bike and check the pier on the west side of the island.
There are also 3+ spots to find grappling hooks near this area, so I try to scope that too.
Use the bike to jump the fence over the check point.
Drive the bike to the radio tower.
Hack.
If I've not found a uniform, climb to the top of the tower and parachute to the north docks. Search the north docks for uniforms - there are 4 possible spawn spots here. 3 are easy to use, the other is bugged and appears in a different spot on the mission (it's the one in the shed).
You might be tempted by the truck - that seems to be bugged too. Or possibly the disguises are, as the only time they've seen through the disguise was driving the truck.

Heist
If the uniform is on the pier - sub or boat approach.
If uniform is at the airstrip - plane.
If uniform is at North Docks - boat.
Then just grab stuff from lock ups if solo before taking a bike to the main compound.
Climb over the west wall.
Do the heist. You only have to worry about the red cone guys. Watch out for a couple who can hear the other die despite being on different floors if their blips are too close.
Climb back over the wall.
Ignore what ever exit strategy you planned. Run to the low barb wire fence on the west side of the compound, jump over it, equip a rebreather and keep swimming west.

This nowhere near as fast the people who do submarine-pipe-stealth approaches, but you can still get the time bonus once you get used to it.

QDRPHNC

I go in through the drainage tunnel, get the shit, swim to the airstrip, get the shit, swim to the Kosatka.

Uncle TechTip

^ That except you just swim away from the island to the left if you leave by North gate, eventually the mission will end.

I've only ever done it stealth because there's too much kicking off otherwise, but if you can equip with the suppressors during setup you can shoot each guy in the head without detection if you follow a certain route.

Yeah, but I have to fill my bags at the airfield, which is the easiest place to fill them. Suppressors and headshots all the way.

I only did Cayo once and I did it loud and it was very dry.

Trailer for the new DLC with Dr Dre!

QuoteIn the years since he and his accomplices knocked over the Union Depository, renowned Los Santos hustler Franklin Clinton has been making moves of his own. Introducing The Contract, a new GTA Online story coming December 15
— featuring Dr. Dre, new music, and more.

BeardFaceMan

I do wonder what kind of single player DLC we would have got if Online didn't become the cash cow that it did.

Quote from: BeardFaceMan on December 08, 2021, 05:31:01 PMI do wonder what kind of single player DLC we would have got if Online didn't become the cash cow that it did.

I would have preferred that to Online.

More details on the DLC.

QuoteIn the years since he and his accomplices knocked over the Union Depository, renowned Los Santos hustler Franklin Clinton has been making moves of his own.

Welcome to F. Clinton and Partner, a new "celebrity solutions agency" catering to the Vinewood elite in need of solutions to high-society problems.

Franklin needs two things: a reliable partner and a big-ticket, high-profile client. With your longtime LS contact — and newly aspiring cannabis entrepreneur — Lamar Davis making the connection, you can be the partner that helps Franklin take the business to the next level.

Meanwhile on the other side of the city, DJ Pooh has been reaching out to Franklin about an exciting potential client: his close friend, Dr. Dre.

Lost in the shuffle on his way to Cayo Perico last year, it turns out Dr. Dre's phone isn't just missing — it's in the wrong hands. Not only that, but the phone also contains the hottest property in the city: new, unreleased music from Dr. Dre himself. This could be the big break your agency needs.

Get ready for a wild and hilarious ride through Los Santos, from the mean streets of Franklin's old neighborhood to the hottest parties in the city, from debaucherous mansions to the offices of the FIB and everywhere in between as you join Franklin, expert hacker Imani, Chop the Dog, and crew to secure Dr. Dre's precious tracks and return them to their rightful owner.

Stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire in the coming days for more info on The Contract, arriving December 15 to GTA Online — including details of an eclectic new radio station from some very special guest hosts, huge first-of-their-kind updates to existing radio stations including a ton of new and unreleased exclusive tracks from Dr. Dre and a heavy-hitting line-up of artists, plus additional opportunities for agency work including choice hits for players willing to get their hands dirty, plus new weapons, vehicles, and much more.

This will be good for the new Dre music alone.

BeardFaceMan

I may be misremembering but wasn't there talk of single player DLC when the game launched/before shark cards?

H-O-W-L

Quote from: BeardFaceMan on December 08, 2021, 05:31:01 PMI do wonder what kind of single player DLC we would have got if Online didn't become the cash cow that it did.

Doomsday, if I recall, was planned for singleplayer DLC. I think I even heard that they recorded all the dialogue for the three protags for it then turned it into GTAO content somewhere along the line.

Malcy

The new DLC is out today. I had a quick go but wasn't in the mood for being blown up by Oppressors for 10 minutes after logging in so tried one mission and turned it off.

You have to buy the Celebrity Solutions Agency to start the missions. Think with a few add-ons mine cost about $2.7m.

Lots of details here on what the update has, including tech you can fit to your vehicle to stop missile lock on.

QuotePlayers will receive fewer phone calls in GTA Online. Players will see the addition of new map blips, markers, and help text to replace phone calls.

Daily Fees in GTA Online have been reduced.

The Arcade Game 'QUB3D' has been added to the upstairs area of the Auto Shop.

Players can now alter the number of laps that must be completed in LS Car Meet Head-to-Head Races. Rewards are increased for completing more laps.

Players are now rewarded LS Car Meet Reputation for completing Auto Shop Contracts, Customer Deliveries, and Exotic Exports Deliveries.

The safe capacity in the Nightclub and Arcade has been increased.

Lot going on, new weapons, vehicles and loads of music updates.

QDRPHNC

Played my way through all of The Contract yesterday. It's... fine. Honestly, even the first time through, it started to feel like a grind, and I can't see myself revisiting it for a good while.

Cayo Perico - as a heist - was far more interesting, giving you different ways of accomplishing your goal and breaking up the "go to this location, shoot people, run away" structure which forms most GTAO missions. Whereas the Contract was pretty much just that times ten, then you're done. Part of the grindy feeling is also related to the way the game breaks up each mission in the series. You can't go straight to the next one, you have to wait for Franklin to call you back to the agency - which usually happens as soon as you've left your office, gone downstairs, got in the elevator, and got into your car. Then your phone rings telling you to come upstairs.

Basically, there's a lot of walking to and from your office, and it's a chore. I suppose going back and forth to the Kosatka is like that too, but I got into the habit of using my Deluxo to land right by the door on the tower, and saving time like that isn't possible here.

With all that said, there was one point that was just great, when you're taking part in one side of a gang war, with one of Dr. Dre's new songs as the soundtrack. It brought me back to what GTAO used to feel like when I did more of the standard missions, like you're part of a big chaotic action movie, that was definitely the highlight of the whole thing.

The new cars are also really good (loving the Champion), and that fact that you can now add an anti-missile lock feature means you can cruise around the map safe in the knowledge that if someone wants to grief you, they're going to have to put some effort into it.

Malcy

Enjoyed The Contract for the most part. Found it annoying that enemies tended to spawn behind you out of nowhere quite often. Doesn't seem to be much variety in the non VIP contracts though. I did the same one getting the watch from the Vanilla Unicorn 3 times in a row.

I think I would have enjoyed the music from Dre more if I hadn't been blasting rips of the tracks at every possible opportunity since Wed morning!

Think there's more to come for the update as well. Will be good to finally get to play as Lamar. He was supposed to be a playable character on completing story mode.

QDRPHNC

Quote from: Malcy on December 19, 2021, 09:13:14 AMEnjoyed The Contract for the most part. Found it annoying that enemies tended to spawn behind you out of nowhere quite often.

Yes, I noticed that too. Don't think I'd seen that happen in GTA before.

letsgobrian

Enjoyed the Dr Dre story, but the gun combat feels like it's showing its age in a way the driving doesn't. (Both still better than the never good stealth). Nothing as bad as the Casino update's story with its survival modes thinly disguised as missions, but only the final gunfight felt like it flowed in a particularly inventive manner.

Will be interesting to see if they use the Agency's VIP missions as a way to deliver future DLC stories and celebrity guest appearances, or if they will never expand it like Arena War. Got the impression they were setting up Franklin to replace Lester in terms of being the instigator of future game features.

Malcy

Got an Opressor MkII. Barely drive now.

Been a whole load of nothingness recently but have been steadily buying, earning, researching etc. Those explosive sniper rifle rounds are great for idiots in jets.

Think the next DLC is next month. Haven't heard much other than the usual Liberty City expansion rumours.
