I found out a kind of cheat for this and then I went back to the previous FROM games and found it worked on all them, too. Not seen it shared anywhere else but I'm thinking of sending it to one of the big YT channels like Zullie or Fextra, as long as they credit me. Basically, when an enemy attacks, if you press roll (just tap the run button), then you can 'roll' straight through their attack like you're invulnerable. I assume it's a glitch they never patched out but it's completely trivialised these games for me.

It is quite funny seeing the increasingly ridiculous animations they've come up with to try and circumvent this. All those amazing bosses in the later games with delayed windups leading into 15 seconds of thrashing.
