I thought this was rather nice, a brief respite from the storm, beautifully and fondly described.

Jonathan Cook reviews "The Trial of Julian Assange: A Story of Persecution" by Nils Melzer, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

^^^ good art. i hadn't realised the whole revolutionary beard thing was a malevolently confected imposition. (you could almost admire the craft if they weren't so irredeemably heinous)

QuoteQuite a story if verified. ABC's John Lyons has today reported he expects Julian Assange to be unconditionally released "within two months".
Events may prove PM Albanese's 'quiet diplomacy' was the correct pathway to freedom
Whatever the situation, now is the time for peak press.

I was sort of amazed that this lad is still alive, and assumed as soon as he was released he'd get struck by lightening or suicided in some way, but considering the leaking of all the grotesquely shit things that governments have done and still do has seemingly had little to no effect, will they even be arsed to get him?

Well it doesn't massively matter if he's found guilty or not because a pretty loud message has been sent by the international security establishment and US Military-Industrial Complex.

As a foreign journalist; if you came across a cache of documents they indicated US wrongdoing with a genuine public interest to publish, would you publish it? Who wants to be the next Assange hiding in an embassy and getting spied on pretty extensively and not going outside for the best part of a decade?
