QuoteThe Government plans to achieve this by:
a. Building our defences through pharmaceutical interventions: vaccines,
antivirals and disease modifying therapeutics.
b. Identifying and isolating positive cases to limit transmission: Test, Trace
and Isolate.
c. Supporting the NHS and social care: managing pressures and recovering
services.
d. Advising people on how to protect themselves and others: clear guidance
and communications.
e. Pursuing an international approach: helping to vaccinate the world and
managing risks at the border.

a - fair enough, although we still have 10% of over-16s without even one jab.
b - what about financial support for people on low wages who have to isolate
c - how is the government supporting the NHS? It's helped to fill up beds by getting rid of masks and letting things rip
d - guidance and communications have been terrible. Barely any mention on ventilation, confusing rules and a focus on "personal responsibility" which has turned into "oh, if you really want to protect others you still can, stop complaining peasant". Most people in the UK seem to think coronavirus isn't an issue any more and government messaging is partly to blame.
e - not sure what is meant by "risks at the border", is that an anti-immigration dogwhistle? and this government could give a lot more money to schemes like Covax given it is spending £200m on a new yacht.

BBC reports:

QuoteMr Javid also said it was "highly likely" frontline NHS staff and those in wider social care settings will need to have Covid-19 and flu vaccinations in order to be deployed.

The health secretary added that the government would be "keeping an open mind" and waiting for the results of a consultation but he believed this would be "an important step in protecting those at greatest risk".

He said a "Plan B" had also been prepared with measures "that we can call upon only if they are needed and supported by the data to prevent unsustainable pressure on the NHS".

This could include legally mandating face coverings in certain settings, he said, while a system of vaccine passports was also being held "in reserve".

"As well as these three steps, we'd consider a further measure of asking people to work from home if they can for a limited time if that is supported by the data," he told MPs.

"Any responsible government must prepare for all eventualities, and although these measures are not an outcome anyone wants, it's one we need to be ready for just in case."

A less death cult Health Secretary would have never got rid of the legal mandate for masks in the first place.
