Someone on twitter (can't find now) asked "So how long until Mick Lynch is anti-Semitic then?"

Quote from: Fabian Thomsett on June 22, 2022, 05:45:15 PMMick Lynch is on Question Time tomorrow.

Blimey how will they balance that out to keep the rightward skew?

Gavin McInnes and Farage?

Quote from: Buelligan on June 21, 2022, 08:25:06 AMBTW, I'm sure I'm giving the charlatan gangsters running Britain far too much credit but, if I were running things, I'd be thinking about the move away from private cars, towards things like... rail.  And if I were a fucking evil ghoul cunt, I'd want to break the rail unions before they got too strong.  Just saying.

Oh so you ARE capable of making reference to the "gangsters" that run one country without unnecessarily mentioning the "gangsters" that run another country. That's a surprise because in the thread about Russia's racist, fascist war against Ukraine you seemed to find this impossible and when condemning Russia's government you virtually always played whataboutery and brought up the British government to condemn too.

Buelligan

Why don't you fuck off.  Ta.

Those threads are irrelevant to this one. Keep it on topic and attack the argument and not the poster.

Thank you.

Okay! Will admit that I get emotional about that subject for personal reasons. Soz.

And which national media organisation do you work for?

elliszeroed

I feel sorry for Kate Burley. She kept on looking 'up and to the left' for guidance, while her questions went nowhere, and she knew it.

QuoteKeep pressing him Kate! He'll slip up!
Ask him the same question again Kate!
Oh Kate, he's made you look stupid! Play the victim!

When that tory shit stain tried to appeal to the gammons with that armed forces day nonsense ML should have pointed out that a large minority of railway staff are ex military.

Her body language was so weird during that, moving her arms around like a puppet especially at the beginning. HOW APT.

Maybe if the producer called her Kay he'd get a response?

Buelligan

Great and very enlightening section at the start of Tysky tonight with a deeper explanation of the money side of this from the RMT's Eddie Dempsey.  Super union, Clive.

Full Mick Lynch v Kay Burley interview.

I used this term extremely sparingly nowadays but what a colossal bitch she is.

Only just caught up on this, superb responses

Ferris

Watched it again just for fun.

There's a moment of panic at 2m13s where she realizes she's saying "why do you think a tory would lie to us" after weeks of it becoming increasingly obvious that the answer is "because they are liars".

...but she's already started, so she has to finish the question.

Imagine ending up on the side of defending this government's integrity and relationship with the truth.

Even better than the Burley one is his response to Sophy Ridge... probably because she's not being an arsehole and trying to trap him, although she is asking questions to steer the conversation in a certain way, but he doesn't miss a beat and counters it very well, which whilst less fun than him calling people out on outright lies and nonsense shows he's got skills way beyond that.

Did you notice how many times Shapps said gunning (as in the RMT have been/are gunning for a strike/fight) in his interview with her earlier on the programme?  I'm sure it was entirely natural and unrehearsed, not in any way intended to subliminally affect the listener.

I'm sure someone who yomped to Goose Green to bayonet a few teenage Argie conscripts, or Bravo Two Zeroed some installation in Iraq was utterly incapable of managing their travel arrangements yesterday.

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly like or respect Mick Lynch any more, he goes and does this - https://twitter.com/AaronBastani/status/1539738765584961539

Think I'm in love.

If he's not branded an IRA sympathiser in the next few days I'll be disappointed.

Yes, yes. Always turn their shit against them.

Norton Canes

Oh, and in case anyone thinks this 'people don't feel able to buy tickets online' thing is BS:

Research uncovers 'digital poverty' across North West's rural communities with one in four struggling to complete key tasks online

Not that rural areas get much coverage from the rail network, but there you go (or don't)

Quote from NR negotiator (the intriguingly-named Tim Shoveller) in the Guardian: "The difference between the 3% on the table now and a 7.1% is £65m every year just for the groups that are on strike today."

£65m isn't very much in the grand scheme of a £20bn industry. In fact, I make it 0.3%.

An attack line could be that RMT pushed for Brexit, although Mick Lynch wasn't secretary until May 21 he has gone on Peston saying 'we support Brexit' https://twitter.com/bmay/status/1539867888563232768 he's rallied against populism though, and 'we' could be seen as the union's stance.

This might wash with the liberal press as they see brexit as bad but are more-or-less fine with any other form of conservatism, but given the other points he's making poltiically, could be quite inconvenient for pro-brexit reactionaries since he's dismantling everything else and they can't dismiss him as a 'remoaner' who can be ignored.

Of course you could say 'why does a decision we consider bad from 6 years ago stop them from asking for better conditions now?' and I'd totally agree with you.

Fambo Number Mive

So May thinks Lynch is a "zero" but also thinks "he's a fantastic media performer and doing his job in this dispute very well". How does that work?

phantom_power

There was a pretty good, non-confrontational interview with Dan Walker where he actually got to get his point across without being interrupted or insulted. They laughed at the idea of him being accused of being both a baron and a Marxist, as if being a Marxist is something to be "accused" of, though sadly it is in this day and age

There was one insightful comment on the Tweet that Walker put out to show the interview. People on the left are always being labelled "socialists" or "leftists" or "marxists" in the media while people on the right are seen as somehow ideologically neutral. That really skews how lots of people see the two sides. One is seen as rational and impartial, the other factional and biased. It is as subtle cunts trick

Buelligan

Heheh.  Yeah, only goes so far though, doesn't it?

Was watching Shapps chatting shit yesterday and realised I was just staring, mildly hypnotised, at the horrible rubbery facade moving and moving, sliding out one lie after another, whilst I thought, nasty, nasty, thing, you are a nasty thing, please leave my world.

Do you think that this is perhaps, just perhaps, alerting people to who is really to blame for the shit we are in.

You know, not refugees and trans women?
