Eddie's arms remain behind his back. It's a trap, Syd, you poor sweet fool.

This has just been uploaded to YouTube today - Little and Large on some Noel Edmonds show I never knew existed. Surely it doesn't get any better than this.

Glebe

Oh you beauty! Looking forward to watching that!

Richard Herring in about 2019 talking about when he and Stewart Lee submitted some material for Little and Large.

Great spot, thank you! 'Sidlexia', indeed...

This probably goes in some sort of Partridge thread too. The dancer and the fireman, the offhand way of listing serious events of '77 followed by lighthearted laughs, Brotherhood of Man looking like a business meeting for up to dance, it's great.

Crazy how far 1977 to 1985 felt. How the entire shape of politics, music and fashion changed. Maybe it's just me getting old and out of touch, but when Edmonds goes through all the do-you-remembers at the start, it's hard to see how that would sound today. "This is how things used to be way back in 2016, when everything was pretty much exactly as it is now"

Shaxberd

It's a small thing but I'm fascinated by how much protest appears as a theme in those opening titles - the Jarrow March, the CND, protests against Thatcher and unemployment. It doesn't seem like something that would be highlighted today.

Also a lingering shot of Hitler for the "remember the war?" bit, I imagine they'd leave out old shitty-moustache now as well.

Best part of that was the framing: "Noel Edmonds Presents ... Flappers! ... Hitler! ..."

I never understood why footage of Stalin featured so prominently in one of Jive Bunny's videos. Feelgood 50s nostalgia!

^ that is genuinely the first time I've been amazed by AI.  Nominate this for the Turner Prize.
