Only know one song by Hawkwind, not sure I've ever gotten round to listening to This Heat, so can't comment. However, 'Silver Machine' on it's own probably puts them above Oasis.

Don't really have an opinion on the others to put them in any order.

Nasty Eric Clapton etc but Strange Brew and Sunshine Of Your Love are absolute bangers so..

Cream

Erasure always left me cold but Vince Clark is clearly a real talent so next

Erasure

Nasty Lad culture etc I do like a few early days Oasis numbers (yeah? Sue me) so..

Oasis

To my shame, I can't say I've heard much of This Heat so they might even the best here which renders my list void.

See....I'd say 'how can you like The Fall AND Erasure?' but that kind of statement usually brings out supercilious remarks along the lines of 'I'm equally comfortable with McDonalds fries as I am a five-course meal in a three-star Michelin restaurant'

but it IS strange that you like both. It IS

I also like Godspeed You Black Emperor and Showaddywaddy, if that helps.

Most odd.

I like Showaddywaddy quite a bit.

DrGreggles

To be fair, I'm unlikely to be listening to The Fall and think "I know, I'll put Erasure on next"* (or vice versa), but both have their place in my affections.

You people.

London band who were nearly 20 years ahead of their time.  I wouldn't feel safe calling it post-punk, it's a bit more evolved than that.

Sorry i only listen to Tool and Radiohead

Icehaven

I too have never heard of This Heat despite them apparently being mentioned in Losing My Edge by LCD Soundsystem, which I've heard many times, although reading the lyrics I'd say I hadn't heard of half the other bands he lists either.
