Only a matter of time I suppose:

QuoteCaligula director Tinto Brass, has announced plans to make the world's first 3D pornographic film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Might be alright with the ladies, but I don't want a great raging 3D stiffy coming at me.

Not unless its real life that is!!!!

Blumf

I refuse to believe that this wasn't done in the 70s!

boxofslice

I take it this will be shown in cinemas on its release?  I've always viewed watching porn as a private matter rather than a public gathering.  The idea that you could be sitting in the dark only a few seats away from somebody 'rubbing one out' is not going to entice me to go see it no matter how good the visuals.

Goldentony

This has already been done, notably with John Holmes in his landmark masterpiece 'Hard Candy' aka 'Lollipop Girls in Hard Candy', so they're at least thirty years out with this claim. So once again the world owes a debt to John Holmes. John Holmes!!

I seem to recall another 70s 3D porn film set on an airliner, the only reason I remember it was the tagline:

"Enter the Cock Pit"

Sadly there are too many films with "Cock Pit" in the name these days to find a poster.

Goldentony

You've also got The Pleasuredome from 1982, and Wildcat Women from 1975. The world needs to know about this 3D IMAX penis con.

I've always wondered this about porn in the pre-VCR days. People went to porn cinemas and masturbated there? With other people in the room? Weird.

It's fine as long as you're in the back row or wearing a raincoat.

Zero Gravitas

Perhaps there wasn't such a direct linkage between watching porn and getting your knob out back then?

I can hardly see an anyone hunched over a seaside nickelodeon watching Albert Steptoe and the Washer woman while pumping his meat, back in those days Wank Banks offered higher interest rates.

Ah, the old days. Thanks to 'Snakes on a plane' , no witty corruption of a title would be necessary anymore for mile high porn.

I fancied a cheap thrill, so I went to see that "3D blue movie" that everyone has been raving about at the IMAX last week. Boy, was I ever disappointed. And they wouldn't give me my money back afterwards, no matter how much I protested.

rudi

You should have put your cock away first; believe me, I've been there...

AsparagusTrevor

Isn't 3D porn usually called 'having sex'?

Pretty much, and it still goes on today - there's a couple of adult cinema's in London where people still indulge, with a lot of gay/bi action going on too. Rumour has it that the odd woman goes along to be copiously spunked on as well, though the whole thing has never appealed to me as I'm very lazy when it comes to getting my clothes dry cleaned.

Zero Gravitas

Best I can do without going begging to /r/

Remember to uncross your eyes after.

Well it's a change from nachos and popcorn I suppose.

I imagine it would be like the start of Carry On Camping.

Cwwoooaarrr! I bet porn was so much better in them days where it was like some prized rare jewel. Now its as ubiquitous as mud!

The adult entertainment industries have always been at the cutting edge of pioneering technology. They had a huge influence in the success of VHS recorders and film generally if you look back far enough. If it catches on, you'd better be sure there'll be three 3D porn movies for every regular one by mid-decade.

I'd say it was more the case that the technology becomes successful because the porn industry adopts it - VHS won over Betamax because it was easier and cheaper for the porn makers to record on, even though Betamax was apparently better quality. Although, with porn now being a massive multi-billion dollar industry, maybe that factor isn't as important these days, and they'll be able to churn these out at the same rate as regular ones within a few years.

Absolutely - that's what I meant to say. Sorry.

Churn?? How dare you, sir! Weapons of Ass Destruction is a tour de force, lovingly plotted, shot and acted. I laughed, I cried I... well, yes, I wanked. That's three things I didn't do during Lord of the Rings.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

I thought VHS won because it was the cheaper option for consumers. I didn't realise it was because they all wanted to get their rocks off.

I do remember when DVD first penetrated the public conciousness, reading some article that said porn was one of the biggest users of the multiple viewing angles feature.

Artemis

Yep, when you look into it, there's an undeniable parallel between new technology becoming widespread and porn expanding into the new technology. I doubt the same can be said for Blu-Ray or HD but certainly VHS has an awful lot to thank John Holmes for.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Is that certain? Correlation doesn't imply causation and all that. I'm having a hard time imagining John and Jane Q. Public having a conversation like this:
"Gee, honey. Which video system should we buy?"
"I don't know. Which one has the most pornography on it?"

mycroft

Well, John won't be mentioning to Jane, but he'll be thinking it, the randy old goat.

Zero Gravitas

The Valley was supporting HD-DVD as it was the cheaper format, but there are other issues which had a much stronger effect on Blu-Ray winning.

biggytitbo

I don't want to see porn in HD (or 3D for that matter). All those cold sores in such detail, yuk!

Zero Gravitas

I think a twat full of warts can be rather fetching.

It's an interesting point when I gather that herpes is endemic, how much bum-foundation must they get through!?

I'd invest now if I were you.
