Quote from: oggyraiding on June 08, 2023, 02:52:19 PMPaul Sinha is fine, The Beast is a cunt and married his cousin which is weird. Maybe they should play up the cousin fucking element of his character.

Paul did say on RHLSTP (or similar) that he assumed the Beast got his name because he fucks his cousin. Wonder if Beasty ever heard that episode.

Quote from: The Lurker on June 09, 2023, 10:20:32 AMAs for Who to be a Millionaire, has anyone been an audience member on the show? Because something I've wondered is, do you have to answer on the Ask the Audience lifeline? If you didn't know but had to guess, you could end up fucking over the contestant. If I knew the answer, I'd definitely be tempted to deliberately put a wrong answer.

Yeah, no obligation to press. My wife told me later she was deliberately pressing wrong answers on the people before in case it gave me chance to get on! Was shocked as she isn't a rule breaker usually.

I do wonder if anyone has ever said "If you don't know, don't press" in the seat, especially as Ask The Audience is usually pretty useless beyond halfway in the ladder. I really don't understand the people who get to a later point and still have it and go "hmm, I really think the Capital of France is Berlin but I'll just check with the audience" and because the audience are so easily lead they just confirm an incorrect answer. If you aren't sure then keep your mouth shut in 99% of cases with that one.

Edit - New Page Cunt, so just seen I have confirmed Dr Marbles's theory!

Same happens with 50/50.  If you think it's one of them but aren't sure, and you are wrong, you can bet that the "computer" will "randomly" include that answer along with the correct one.

And then Chris Tarrant coquettishly going "oops, looks like that hasn't helped you!!!"

Just say you don't have a clue about any of them, or lie when asked, give one that you definitely know is wrong so that when the 50/50 includes it, you'll have the right answer there.

Absolute rocket science this.

I like that conversation. People in the audience seem a bit shocked by the "brown bummer" remark. Haha! All in good fun against the twats at ITV though.

Speaking of which, I looked at The Chase board game in an Argos once and the Shawn character is described as "The Destroyer" rather than The Dark Destroyer. So they know at some level that it's fucked up. Yet they persist.

Shawn should be called The Barrister. Paul should be called Dr Giggles. Ennis should be The Great Bunch of Lads.

I do think the Chasers go easy on the celebrity contestants which is fine, as it's for charity. I recall Anne getting a fairly easy question wrong on the British royal family - her specialist subject. Likewise, Eni Aluko got a question on To Kill a Mockingbird (she's said in many interviews that's her favourite book) and a question about Italy - a country she lived in for a bit. Could be a coincidence but I doubt it.

Quote from: Dr Marbles on June 09, 2023, 10:39:34 AMI remember reading someone (maybe another thread on here) that a decent proportion of the audience consists of the family and friends of the people playing the fastest finger first and they deliberately choose wrong answers in the hope the current contestant fucks up and their friend/family member gets another chance to get on the show.

Snrub's evidence aside, I doubt how true that is. For the early questions, Ask the Audience can be very reliable. Ask them who plays who in Coronation Street and they always get it right. It's the later questions that lets say 10% of the audience might be confident of that the rest are guessing.

50/50 is almost certainly funny business.

On Friday she fluffed a question on the final Chase on how many legs an insect has - funnily enough it was a celebs for charity edition where the celebs had over £100,000 in the prize pot.

Quote from: Rolf Lundgren on June 06, 2023, 02:48:28 PMI've been on The Chase too. Was overall a great experience and satisfyingly surreal when you're on set. Occasionally you can glimpse yourself sitting there - Look Mum I'm on the telly!

Got through my cash builder and won the final chase with plenty to spare. The woman in seat 4 took a minus offer and the staff told her afterwards to not go on social media when it went out. I really wasn't bothered about her doing it at the time, maybe a little bit now, but she did it from a genuine lack of confidence rather than anything else. Before we even started two of the team said they'd take the lower offer so it didn't come as a surprise when she did it.

Did you have much interaction with him? We had The Governess and literally the only time we spoke or saw each other was all on camera.

Totally identify with this. It reminded me of the Red Dwarf episode Back to Reality where Lister looks in the viewer and sees different versions of the crew. One minute you're the most important person in the world to them then you're getting pushed into the back of a taxi.

Was it just you and Seat 4 Woman in the Final Chase, or did more members of the team also make it back?

3 of us made it back. Nobody took the top offers so she didn't take a huge amount off the total.

Not sure on old Millionaire, but in modern times it's six contestants (used to be ten) with I think two guests in the audience max when I was on and the audience is probably 200-300 people so not enough to make any real difference, even if all the friends had the same thought, which I would agree is unlikely.

Is there actually an audience for the non-celeb chases? Never see one and no-one acknowledges them like on a celeb version. Sounds very canned too.

The Lurker

On RHLSTP (RHLSTP!), Rick Edwards basically stated it's in the production companies best interests to not have too many wins on a quiz show. He said at the start of a new series, they give a budget to the channel on how much they think they'll give away which the channel funds. However, the production company has to pay for every penny that is over the budget. He said they got a bit twitchy when there was three wins in a row.

There isn't. Ant & Dec's prank on Bradley Walsh was brilliant and also showed the "behind the scenes" stuff on The Chase too

The Dark Destroyer blatantly threw it today. His performance compared to The Beast yesterday was beyond a joke.

C_Larence

Yeah. Taking 10 seconds before passing on "what sign of the zodiac contains the letter V". I think he felt bad for the young girl contestant.

I was in the audience a long time ago (2005?) and the producery person who gave us all a pep talk beforehand said exactly this. No idea if it still happens or if people go along with it though.

Was Bradley doing a Partidge with that shaving mirror on the bedside cabinet?

Rolf Lundgren

Got to be the spare room. No way that's his master bedroom.

A question on the Chase just a little while ago referred to "the magician and mutant Paul Daniels".  I assume I misheard. Can't figure out what it might have been.
