Sorry I was incorrect. It was the chairman, not the manager

I've never really thought about it before, but it would make sense if elite level goalies had mobility problems in later life - throwing yourself to the floor several times a day can't be a good thing in the long run, and then there's point blank shots ricocheting off of pretty much any body part.

Kankurette

Kevin Pressman (sorry to mention him again, but it is relevant here) had a hip replacement recently and he's in his mid-fifties, which is quite young for a hip replacement, and I wonder how much of it is to do with his weight and how much is because of strain put on his body when he was a goalie back in the '90s. I noticed he was walking funny in a video and he must have been in a ton of pain. Plus his cruciate's gone. (As an aside, I specialise in medical translation and I've done a fair bit of work for firms that make artificial joints, so it's a subject of interest.)

I wonder how many other '90s goalies have fucked up bodies. Especially given how physical the game was in general. Plus, as Petr Čech and Ederson found out the hard way, there's the risk of being booted in the face.

ETA: Carlton Palmer's had heart surgery, I think it was a few years ago. That surprised me, because he's pretty thin but he also runs like 5K a day and exercises like mad. Must be the drink.

Senior Baiano

That's pretty funny, the Rainchers fan being so thin skinned. "I'll tell on you to the elders of zion!"

When I was in the Jewish Society at Manchester, we had a few Scottish members and I know a couple of them were Celtic fans.

Always interesting to see just how long the "off-season" is (in Europe at least). I guess 2022/23 technically ends on 20 June, when the last matches in the Euro 2024 qualifiers (Round 4) finish.

Then 2023/24 begins competitively a week later on 27 June, with the Champions League Preliminary Round Semi-Finals.

Bob Bolder was the Liverpool keeper a few years. 0 first team appearances. John Durnin, with his total of 3 apps in the cups was up front too.

They should revive it. I reckon Mark Gonzalez would be the bloke who runs around everyone now given how OP he is in the Legends matches. Swear he's a better player now at 38 than he was when he was 22.

Has more European Cup winners medals than Ibrhamihovic, OG Ronaldo and Buffon combined.

Bob Bolder's name I at least recognise from his time at Charlton. I saw Durnin play for Carlisle at Orient in late 1999. He looked (and played) like he'd spent the previous few months living entirely on beer and chips.

Quite amusing that Jonathan Greening has one too.

Rangers fans not Sieg Heiling in Israel.

They are of course, giving the 'red hand salute', which is totally a thing, and not just made up so they didn't get in trouble with Uefa. What do you mean, 'Maybe don't do it in Israel then, just in case'. It's a thing that protestants totally do, and always have (you just have to imagine the hands are red, though), so why should they not do it? In fact, by decrying this long-standing protestant tradition (of which there is scant historical evidence), you are the bigot! Ahhhhh ....

The Green Brigade that have been vociferous in their criticisms of the Celtic Board since they started, branding one board member as a war criminal for his involvement in the second Gulf War as part of Blair's cabinet. That Green Brigade? Yes, their opinion and Celtic FC's official line seldom differs. FFS.

"It's a complete sellout"

Probably applies to every city game LOL

kalowski

City a juggernaut in "every sense of the word"

noun
1. (without cap) a very large lorry
3. (often without cap) any relentless destroying force or object of devotion and sacrifice
3. (also Jugannath /jug'u-nät/) an incarnation of Vishnu, whose idol at Puri is traditionally drawn on a processional chariot, beneath which devotees were once believed to throw and crush themselves

WhoMe

The light and dark blue kit combo is really straining my eyes, doesn't help that the running track is also dark blue

druss

Apparently this is a game where the first goal will be important, unlike other football matches where it is barely relevant.

De Bruyne going off is a blow for City but he'll be back on in the second half, he's that sort of player.

BlodwynPig

jobotic

I haven't watched or listened to a second if this match but I still feel qualified to say

What a loathsome spectacle

druss

They keep saying Foden has what it takes to fill in for De Bruyne but unless all De Bruyne does is fluff it to the corner flag I'm not sure they are right. Stones on the other hand is actually quite good isn't he? Mad that he has spent most of his career at the back.

druss

Foul on Foden then after he had already completely fucked up his pass, just leave him to it Inter lads.

druss

Now Stones being Englishman in a final as well, forget I said anythying.

pandadeath

They should have treated it like a Balotelli testimonial, have him play 45 mins for each side - would have been a more interesting spectacle
