Well whores, as hinted at in threads gone by, I'm moving house, and will be without broadband for at least a week, but probably two.
I've only just managed after much hassle to get a phone line started at the new place, and can't order broadband until its been on 24 hours, and then its 7 to 10 days for BT to flick a switch and 5 minutes for the ISP to hit 'enter', if I can't order it by about 11am tomorrow it'll have to wait until after the weekend when I get back to work. I sniff disdainfully at your puny earthling dial-up, and my "manager" at work has blocked this site from the proxy after seeing me smiling more than twice in a week.

Anyway, enough of that, I'm just rather uncomfortable with how annoyed I am that I won't be able to come to this site for all of a couple of weeks. I mean really, a couple of years ago I'd never heard of this place or had any experience of forums at all ("I cut my teeth on CookdandBombd and now nothin' measures up" as Dolly Parton sang all those years ago) and now I'm going to miss you all terribly, well some of you. No, dash it, all of you, every last one, even Purple Tentacle.
Over the last two years you guys have kept me sane when theres nothing in the bookshops worth reading, and nothing on the TV worth watching (which is pretty much all the time) but you're awfully habit-forming.
Anyway, I'll be vaguely hanging around tonight and in the morning while I'm finishing up the packing (and trying to order ADSL).
I like to think I'll take this opportunity to grow as an individual, have new experiences, and maybe work through some photoshop tutorials. What I'll probably do is nine tenths of fuck all, with some catching up ofn all the stuff I've been frantically downloading....

I'm so happy. I've even invented a 'no more pikeys' celebratory dance.

edit: yes, I know, its all me, me, me...

You must have internet cafes around that London place, shorley? But no, fine. Fuck you then if you can't be bothered to keep in contact, and have an excuse to get away from the missus for an hour or ten. Just say you're going to the library, to do research for your book or something - worked for that guy from Sliding Doors. Well, till he got caught with his big end six inches deep, and his missus got mowed (or mown?) down by a car at least.

@ssmaster

My my that was touching terminallyrelaxed, you are only going to be away from the board for about 10 days; write a book, see the world, bake a cake. The break will do you good.

TraceyQ

We need some bread and milk while you're out there... and some teabags, ta.

mr rou-rou

hope the move goes well, remember you aren't he-man, a three foot high stack of porno mags is deceptively heavy*, don't rupture yourself

*and more valuable than gold by weight

Do Yahoo.co.uk still do that free (local rate..) dialup where you don't need to register, just install an 80KB program. Could be an interim solution.. ;-)

My god I'm exhausted. It never ends. I've thrown away 50% of my clothes, left 50% of my books, more than half the kitchenware, several lamps and theres still too much stuff. If I hadnt remembered to buy an electric drill yesterday the bed would have taken hours to take apart. Just when I think its all done, I realise all the rugs are still down, the pictures up, Aaaaargh!

Right, theres milk in the fridge, ready-meals in the freezer. No shagging in my bed! Tracey, you're in charge, I'm counting on you to set an example to the others*....

*(because I think Frinks would look hysterical in slingbacks)

when you say 'throw away' do you mean donate to charity?

there's nothing more rewarding than dressing a sleeping tramp up in your own unwanted clothes, yes, Iron Maiden still rock and the legwarmers are a nice touch. He'll be the talk of the soup kitchen!

Aye, they'll be fighting over my ludicrous orange combats down at Marie Curie Cancer Care. Actually I'm just leaving it all here in bin liner and I'll drop it off when I come back to clean. The books my landlord wants to have a look at so they stay on the shelves too.
Some clothes have to be binned though, you can't donate raggedy-arsed jeans ande socks with holes in, can you? I know Marie Curie is a shop and the tramps don't get it free, but its my local charity clothing store, its on the way to the station and everything.

Right, now I'm just stalling. The movers are due between 1 and 2, and the computer is the only thing not packed. I won't have any time once they are  here, everythings in a massive pile in the living  room, apparently I'm standing by the van on pikey-watch and they're tramping up and down the stairs. Makes a change from when I move myself with 'help', which involves some driving and loading but I always end up doing the tramping up and down with TVs and beds etc...

Be seeing you.

Not if I see you first, baw... Seriously though, thats it. I promised myself I'd take the computer apart at quarter to so I'm not rushed, and theres no more putting it off. Toodle-oo, maybe until I can be arsed with an internet cafe, but its unlikely. Crikey, what a palaver, eh? I'm only going to be without internet for a week or two. Perhaps its indicative of our times, or just of how much of a geek I am.
Anyway, pip pip.

Just opposite the Hen & Chicks, yeah?  A disappointing lack of records in there I always find.

See yuh.

Cerys

You'll be back.  They always come back.  Bwaha, etc.

Hehe. I move next week as well of course and have been accused of slacking. I mean just because I'm moving a whole 100 miles away and haven't actually considered what I'm taking, how I'm packing it, how I'm transporting it etc. I'm a lazy cunt?

To be honest I would have got round to it but I'm downloading every last scrap of pornography I can find (of all possible types) before I go. My new flatmate is a cretin who doesn't even have a phone!!! Unbe-fucking-lieveable. God knows how many months before we get broadband.

Thank christ I only own three sets of clothes.

HIS FINGER'S POINTING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!!!!

terminallyrelaxed

Well hello again briefly.

Christ, I'm wasting away. Today I finally managed to order broadband. Yes, order it. From now on if you haven't already cancelled the broadband by the time you move out, you're officially a cunt in my book.
I'm going spare. I suppose it would be alright if I could play xbox or watch TV at night but in a studio thats a no-go when miss TR's an early riser - to the extent that I've ordered an xbox-vga adaptor, so my entertainment is limited to reading and whatever I managed to download before I moved.
Am getting through Love All The People the Bill Hicks anthology, but its getting repetetive as he refines his main act. Also ploughed through the enormous stack of Philip K. Dick I'd been saving for a rainy day, but I'm really pining for the internet.
Well fingers crossed I'll be online by next weekend, as I'll be checking for arrangements for the surprise extravaganza that against all odds will be talked about for years as the mother of all parties, yes, I'm talking about the VW London Simulmeet on May 15th, y'all. Just trying to inject a bit of hype and don't-want-to-miss-this paranoia among the swing voters, there....
