I just learned what histrionic means and it's much underused as an insult or description of acting. What other good ones are there?

Ostiary. This is the lowest of the four minor orders in the Catholic church.

Major orders: Bishop, Priest, Deacon, Subdeacon
Minor orders: Acolyte, Exorcist, Lector, Ostiary

Once a holy student has had his tonsure, he first becomes an ostiary, who is in charge of opening and closing the church door. With the added responsibility of refusing the Blessed Sacrament to the unbaptised, this is an early forerunner of our secular bouncer, who only has to deal with admission of the over seventeens. Spare a thought for the ostiary: 'If your name's not down, you're not having paedocommunion, now more commonly known as the infant eucharist'.

Pudding has to be my favourite word of all time. It sounds so plump and sickly, squat right in the middle of a dish, gelatinous and wobbling. Say it. Say it now and tell me your mind doesn't instantly think "no, man. It's too early for that sort of food. Now I feel sick."

Crypt. It sounds like cracking open something old and dusty, like a brittle wooden tomb, or a long-decomposed ribcage covered in cobwebs. It's a creepy word. It feels spindly and ornate, there's dust in my lungs just saying it.
