Loved seeing him hamming it up as Jack the Ripper opposite Malcolm McDowell in Time After Time. Also the Big Baddie in Tron.

Quote from: Rizla on July 25, 2022, 03:24:46 PMDamn. One of the very best. So many brilliant roles - no-one's even mentioned Morgan yet.
His crowning achievement perhaps. Beautiful and underseen.

"Suddenly, I feel very, very good."

"Oh, I'm sorry, master."

"No, it'll pass, it'll pass."

RIP mate.

Meshach Taylor, died in 2014.
Was Hollywood in Mannequin. Also a regular in US sitcom Designing Women.

Might want to fix that.

Watched this last night with a friend. It's very sparse and startling - you can tell it's been adapted from a play but I think in this instance it adds to the squalid frenzy. Warner is very funny in it although he is helped a lot by the fact that his character's name is Dennis Nipple.

This Christopher Eccleston interview was shared in the rewatch thread:

From 34:00 he says that his favourite Big Finish episode is his 60th anniversary one as he got to work with David Warner. Presuming it's not an Unbound universe crossover as he earlier talks about his dislike for multi-Doctor stories. He also goes on to say that Warner would have been a great Doctor (presumably he means on telly, unless he really takes no interest in the other Big Finish stuff).

George White

They already worked together on an ITV thriller called Perfect Parents about atheist parents who pretend to be Catholic to get their daughter into the best school, with Warner as the sinister priest.

When we read it at school I was very pleased to be able to ask "Sir, is he called Nipple because he's a bit of a tit?"

Warner's son, who is trans, discusses how supportive he was regarding his transition, how he donated to charities supporting trans kids and "wept at the thought that parents could reject and abandon their children because they are queer".

God, we've really lost someone great.

Another one to add to the long list of actors who specialise in playing villains that turn out to be GBOLs in real life. Good guys make the best baddies, it seems.
