I've just reserved a copy of Lessons in Chemistry at the library. They have about 15 copies and they're all on loan. It was published in April 2022 and has been reviewed widely. It's been published all over the world to great success. Apple are releasing it as a TV series this year.

Part of what caught my attention is the bewildering speed of its success. How can Apple be doing it as a TV thing so quickly? It's a first novel by a copywriter, not a long-anticipated third title by an already-successful author.

Anyway, it's about a 1960s female chemist who has a TV cookery show and uses it to quietly educate women viewers about chemistry. Sounds good to me.

I'm not used to reading such popular novels. Has any CaBber yet read this? Is it an Olga Tokarczuk situation where someone genuinely brilliant enjoys a widely-appreciated cultural moment or is it more of an Eat, Pray, Love situation?
