Panda Bear - Person Pitch

This is a contender for 2007 album-of-the-year already for me, so I thought I'd start a thread about it, run it up the old flag poll, and see if it sticks. Panda Bear is the drummer for the ace Animal Collective, and has done a number of solo works before, notably the Young Prayer album. But this is a whole different kettle: the music is entirely electronic, with Panda's gorgeous Brian Wilson-esque voice stretching out over some unusual samples. It includes a lot of stuff that's already been released (such as the "I'm Not/Comfy in Nautica" single), but I think the idea was always to release most of the tracks as singles and then combine them all on one CD. It's not out until March (although is *cough* "available" in the usual places) so I won't upload any samples here, but in the link below is a full live set from Panda, recorded for Portugese radio, complete with an interesting interview.

Oh yeah, the picture above is the cover art by Agnes Montgomery. I hope this comes out on vinyl, it looks great. You can see more of her work here:

Eeexcellent.. although I didn't know Panda Bear was the drummer for Animal Collective. Downloading this as I speak.

Don't think much of that album cover - looks like a Morris sketch about a children's version of Big Brother - but I've got a lot of time for Panda Bear after the awesome "I'm Not/Comfy In Nautica". Must remember to get hold of that "Bro's" single he did sometime soon as well.
