very vague description but i've been looking for some movies to watch that are just kinda short and sweet, gripping or funny, compelling, likeable/warm. Stuff like Groundhog Day, or that Jon Favreau movie Chef, or Ghostbusters, that kind of just instantly pleasing thing, not too long, not too short, just... nice. Trading Places, that kind of movie. alright cheers.

Monty Python's Meaning Of Life
Austin Powers
Casino Royale

Sebastian Cobb

The Warriors
The Burbs
Weird Science
My Cousin Vinny
White Men Can't Jump
Serial Mom

Bringing Up Baby is still on iPlayer at the moment - absolutely delightful bit of fluff, 98 minutes of Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn bickering and arsing about.

Moonstruck is a banger for this, never a dull moment

His Girl Friday is good for that and all.

yes! great shout. the sort of film that I'm always tempted to keep watching if I'm channel hopping, just so enjoyable

recentish examples:
Booksmart (2019)
Game Night (2018)

(probably doesn't count as it's 2.5 hours long but Goodfellas absolutely flies by and is a terrible one for coming across late at night on TV - "oh, I'll just keep watching it till THAT bit happens" and then you're still up an hour later)

copa

24 Hour Party People has an enjoyably clattering pace.

Shawshank Redemption is a bugger for that too.

On the topic though, 3 different music based films all uner 83 minutes:

Jungle Book
Spinal Tap
South Park Bigger, Longer, Uncut

The F Bomb

United 93
Con Air
Snakes On The Plane

Bit of a cliche, but The Big Lebowski is my go-to.

Also highly recommend Dunston Checks In (1996).

dead-ced-dead

I rewatched Attack the Block recently and absolutely clips along. So tight. Not an ounce of fat on that screenplay.

Coffy
Foxy Brown
Friday Foster
TNT Jackson
Cleopatra Jones

Tombola

Shaun of the Dead
The Mummy (1999)
Tremors

Goodfellas flies by. The most evil thing any channel can do is put it on starting late because you think "Ooh, I'll just watch the first half hour of this before going to bed." and then suddenly it's half past two in the morning.

GoblinAhFuckScary

i'm a pretentious art movie wanker but i love commando and watch it endlessly. where DOES the time go when that plays

Mwnger

Road Warrior for sure - absolutely clips along. Never a dull moment. Ditto Raiders of the Lost Ark

All of Nolan's movies before The Dark Knight

Mwnger

And for a movie that's mostly just blokes talking (and pointing guns at each other) - Reservoir Dogs

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

I watched that with my mum a while back and she oddly loved it.

Total Recall would probably be my Arnie choice though.

Norton Canes
