What physical shops are good for laptops?

Just to repeat what I said in laptop advice thread, I need to buy a new laptop and if I get it from an actual shop that lets me physically interact with one, I get £100 from a market research company. Where is best to try? Am I likely to have to pay more than £100 extra by going to a bricks and mortar shop? Ta.

Depends what you need in a laptop, but most of the shops (the ones that survived lockdown anyway) are likely to sell prefabs of dubious quality/value ratio, often with baffling specs (e.g. 2TB SSD on a machine that can barely open Photoshop) and bundled with a bunch of bloatware. Probably fine enough if you're getting something to browse the internet and do basic tasks, but you'll get a lot more bang-for-your-quid by searching more bespoke options online.

Unless it's Mac, then just get whatever works.
