So... you're all gonna watch the football right? 7:45, Thursday evening!

Yes, where are they going to show it?

I'll still be having my own goddamn meet in the Lost Vagueness casino in the witching hour on Saturday night. I'll be sporting a tweed suit and a handlebar moustache.

It will be shown at the cinema field & yes its going to be rammed.

We can bring the time forward to 6 so we can see how fancies wandering up to watch it.

hencole

6.00pm seems a better time.

Bogey

The cinema field has a capacity of 2000 people, so the earlier one can get there, the better I think. Unless less that one in sixty people want to see the game, which I doubt somehow.
Ooh! Ooh! The excitement is palpable; I'm palpating it furiously right this minute!

hencole

Maybe even earlier then?

How about 5.00pm at the Tiny Tea Tent?

A decision to show the game on the Pyramid stage will be made tomorrow apparently, it depends if the stage is ready on time.

The conditions down there are now wet but not that muddy, its still pretty firm underfoot & solid.

El Unicornio, mang

In contrast to Glasto selling out within 24 hours and tickets going for as much as 7,000 quid on ebay, Lollapalooza, which has a similar line-up, has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales:

Just look at the album charts in the US and you'll have some idea why...

Franz Ferdinand getting to no.43 will be considered a 'major triumph'

The singles chart is even worse:

Right I've managed to dig out an old tweed suit. What's the deal with shoes for lost vaugness? I presume anything goes?

Football issue looking okay: http://forums.virtualfestivals.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11190

Emily Eavis said it was going to be shown on the pyramid stage screens. Should be a roit larf.

mayer

it better stop fucking raining soon i tell ya...

gazzyk1ns

It's been raining really heavily here in Suffolk now for about 4 hours... is it like that anywhere else?

hencole

Been raining all night in London. Bah. I'm going off shopping for more waterproof items.

Bogey

Not only is it raining heavily everywhere, but it's very very windy, especially in the south-west!

Gaaaaaaaaah!

mayer

hencole

Just watching the weather forecast for today. Apparantly we have the lowest air pressure sweeping the country than in the whole of the last 60 years! If that's not good enough for you 60mph winds in the....South West!
The rest of the week looks OK though.

QuoteFew people know that former Pink Floyd frontman, Roger Waters, appears yearly in the Kidz Field, where his one-on-one puppet show "Uncle Len and Fidget" has attracted widespread concern.

QuoteThe famous Glastonbury hot-pear cider was invented after a cystitis sufferer pissed in a paper cup and left it on the counter of a stall. A thirsty reveller quaffed the contents, eulogised about the taste and a cult was born. Over eight hundred cystitis and non-specific urethritis sufferers are now fed fruit juice around the clock to supply thirsty festival goers.

Some funny stuff here

Macerate and Petrify

So 5 O'clock at this tea tent thing?

I can probably do that, assuming its easy to find.

Bogey

It looky like this:

I need to leave now. Now.

Cloudbusting gun could keep Glasto dry

Glastonbury festival is to employ a cloudbusting gun to try to prevent a mudbath this year.

Michael Eavis was inspired to act by Sir Paul McCartney's attempts to keep fans dry during a concert in Russia.

McCartney, who is headlining on Saturday, sprayed dry ice into rainclouds at St Petersburg, reports the Guardian.

Mr Eavis has dug out his own homemade cloudbuster, designed by the Austrian psychologist and 60s cult figure Wilhelm Reich, which was last deployed at the festival in 1971.

Reich's contraption is said to work by extracting "deadly orgone radiation" from the atmosphere, turning clouds into rain.

Mr Eavis hopes a neighbour will agree to have the cloudbuster set up several miles from Worthy Farm, so rainclouds can be "broken up" before they reach the festival.

He said: "I had a phone call from Sir Paul's people saying: "What are you doing to prevent rain?"

"This looks like an anti-aircraft gun and you point it at the clouds. It's all done through the orgone energy thing Reich believed in."

The latest weather forecast is for rain today (Wednesday), sunshine on Thursday and Friday, and showers on Saturday and Sunday.

I was there for the two muddiest years in recent times, it was quite an experience.

Aye, that's the one. Nice illustration of what you were saying about 'obscure references'!

Well, judging by the weather I'd recommend boots of one form or another - wellington boots, jackboots, hobnails ...

You're right about Lost Vagueness, pretty much anything goes (all you really need is a dinner jacket, but I find that it's best to go in style). In fact if you're particularly cunning (or very small) you might be able to sneak in past the bouncers. As far as I can remember, the entrance is off've the roller disco/ballroom.

Maybe it says at their website.

Now that I've done gone said I'll be there I guess that I'd better be. You never can tell though ...

Still, especially if it's raining you've got to give this a go ...

Get the cigars in ...

Yep, took about two minutes to find a full breakdown of the episode in question, including video clips!

Looks like it's going to be a muddy Glastonbury this year

I kind of enjoyed being there for the two muddiest years though, we got there on the Wednesday and so got to pitch our tents on fairly decent ground.  Friends who were arrived once the festival started ended up packing only staying for a night or two, and then ditching their tents, and most of their belongings, and going home.

I just heard on the news some poor bugger has been found dead, suspected OD, a 24 year old male from the Blackpool area,

I know people die all the time but death by misadventure and at a festival he was probably dying to get to is just very sad, poor sod
