The thing to remember is that the French know fuck all about pop culture and therefore he is probably just mistaken.

Case in point: I once took my French friend to see a T-Rex/Marc Bolan tribute act at a social club in the Cheshire mill town of Congleton and despite the fact that the bloke looked like this:



she thought that we were watching the actual Marc Bolan the entire night, until we left and I had to break the news that he looks nothing like that and had been dead for the best part of thirty years.
