I just saw this on SRO, the audience ticketing website;

Quote8 OUT OF 10 CATS DOES COUNTDOWN run-throughs in LONDON
Two of Channel 4's most popular programmes come together for 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Before the some new episodes are recorded, we shall be running through the show and we need a small intimate audience to come along!

For these run-throughs, our cast regulars will not appear but some new and exciting comedians have been selected to come along and play their very own version of TV's classic quiz, Countdown.

The events will take place on Wed 4th May 2022 in the morning & afternoon at The K West Hotel in Shepherds Bush, London and booking is now open, so if you enjoy the show, come and join us for some laughs and see how the episodes are developed!

"our cast regulars will not appear but some new and exciting comedians have been selected to come along and play their very own version of TV's classic quiz" - What do you reckon? Using this as an opportunity to test out Sean's replacement?
The next proper episode records start in Manchester start on the 17th.

Aye, this popped up on Twitter a week or so ago.

It's quite odd; what can there be to run through? The format is fairly fixed (while also loose as it needs to be), the cast all know the show well-enough (and enough people have covered for Sean over the years, or otherwise guested that they won't need to be there for a run-through with just New People).

Only thing I could come up with was it's an entirely new production team behind the camera.

Could it be that John has left too and they're giving the 2 new captains a dry run to build up a rapport?

Maybe they're replacing Jimmy Carr? A new host is definitely more of a risk than a new team captain or a production crew, and trying out a new host or hosts would be one likely reason for a run-through. Not heard anything about Carr's departure though. With Anne Robinson quitting regular Countdown, maybe she's looking for work?

Don't they normally film the show in Salford rather than London?

Seems Sarah Keyworth was one of the contestants doing the London run-through.

Whereas the tapings proper have been:
Alan Carr and Russell Kane, vs Jonathan Ross and Judi Love- Josh Jones in Dictionary Corner

Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross vs Maisie Adam and Harriet Kemsley. Huge Davies in Dictionary Corner

Ugh. J Ross and his quest for anyone who still gives a toss about him.

They do because Salford is where the clock is located. Sean Lock mentioned that there's apparently resistance to the idea of ever moving it to another studio.
