Quote from: Norton Canes on June 28, 2022, 05:14:30 PMWhat are people's opinion on filler words anyway? I can never resist the temptation to go for 'this', 'that' and a few more early doors - they may not help with the meaning but they often make it easier to parse incomplete sentences. Any other favourites? 'Many', 'also'? I go for 'where' and 'when' a lot, will occasionally risk 'first'

God Redactle is exciting

I call them weasel words and start on them if I am at a loss and need to make sentences.

Where and when words are useful ones at the start; century (usually preceded by 20th, 19th, first, etc), modern, medieval, united, states, east, west, etc.

God Redactle is exciting

I use them when I'm in the high hundreds to try and get a bit more leverage and fill some gaps in.  I also have been known to go through the numbers 1-10, and spelled out sometimes.

Anyone have any "starting" tactics?  I usually try "century" first, then "war", "world", "history" if that gets any hits

Spoiler alert
Just that the answer was 'magnetic' but in the list of nearest 1000 words I referred to, every single one is a scientific term of varying obscurity - not a single one relates to the word in the sense of 'alluring', a magnetic personality. You'd expect 'hypnotic', 'irresistible' etc. Looks to me like the similarity algorithm is a bit fucked on that one.
