I laugh every single time I hear the Home Improvement theme, but surely they'll get sued into oblivion at some point?

Edit: Please don't let this new page stop you from going back and watching TAFS Test 3. Oh my GOD this is funny.

Tears of pride streaming down my face as I watch this.

The most I've laughed in ages. Everything about this is beautiful.

Would you like friiiiies with that?

amputeeporn

I've had a ruthlessly shit month/year and haven't laughed like that in a long time. Loved it. If Nick can get out of his own way and just turn on the funny like this (even if it's out of spite), then we're in for a wild ride. Adam's monologue murdered.

kitsofan34

So is Stav's split of the patreon money going to hiring the studio space/putting actual effort into the show?

Sebastian Cobb

Quote from: Noodle Lizard on August 03, 2022, 12:54:03 AMVideo on Patreon too (for about 5 minutes). Just that same wide angle shot as the picture. Not convinced it's not a bit yet, but I'm involved.

love that the camera is miles away and the first thing we're treated to is Adam bending over and showing us his arse crack.

Memorex MP3

It pretty much immediately got so much better when Stav left, right? Him not wanting to be there made him an active negative on the show, when he was just endlessly vibing off Nick's riffs it was great but it was total autopilot the last long while.

Have they ditched the morning recordings too?

Noodle Lizard

Might go and see Nick in Irvine next week. Sounds like he could use the ticket sales.

Dr Rock

Nick threatening to jump off a bridge. 'This is he 6th Adam Friedland inspired suicide since the woman who was raped but Adam didn't stop it because he was wearing flip-flops'

fucking ponderous

"What do you read?" "Scrolls."

Yeah, also loved that Dracula listens almost exclusively to

What the hell is the chat show they used for the monologue? It really sucks. It's amazing.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!

If all the jokes Adam told were lifted straight from that show as well, that is shockingly terrible writing.

rude soil

I don't write them I just read them.

Jerzy Bondov

Adam actually does a better job with the material. Kudos to Adam.

Blown away by this. All the talk about video I expected when everything was all said and done for it to resemble most video podcasts with people sitting around a table. This was so inventive and different and Nick is clearly having fun playing around with what's now available to him. Even just being to do visual gags like the man on the ladder adds so much. It feels like they could break through with this in a way they wouldn't have been able to before. Adam Friedland is a star!

amputeeporn

Also, on the 'regular' (ie non video) pod they released this week, Nick says he's on the road every weekend until the end of the year doing stand up. That meant a lot of great new digs at the scene, which was something I always loved about the older episodes. Then it's mon-thurs, 9-5 working on TAFS.

Edit: interesting to note they've set a patreon goal at roughly double where they're at, reckoning they can more or less hire a staff and do a pro tv show without the networks for that. Here's hoping.

Yeah, I'm thinking they're back.

Old Nehamkin

The Adam Friedland Show is like the Monty Python series 4 of Cum Town.

EggsLikeABird

So is the podcast still good without Stav? His laugh at Nick's misanthrope riffs were a perfect combo.

Yes, and Jordan Jensen is better as a third person when she guests.

Noodle Lizard

I went down to see Nick do stand-up last night, although I had to leave about 20 minutes into his set - long story short, I was sat next to two hacking and sniffling ill people and the venue refused to let me sit somewhere else so I stormed out in a huff. Ironically, Nick himself had the flu and that was the first thing he let us know.

Not much more to report than that. It works better on the podcast. Forgot how much I hate the Improv.

iamcoop

Love it when they get Recine on the pod. Such a naturally cool and funny guy.

Mike Recine is great - have you ever listened to his The Sitdown podcast?

Yeah, the ones I heard were decent but I felt it really lived and died on who the guests were.

I think he does a different one now called Out For Smokes which I believe is a bit more comedy focused which I've been meaning to check out.

amputeeporn

Check out the latest episode, immediately. If that's a taste of where we're going, then I'm excited. Mullen on fire (and

off the wagon, ugh. Hope he's okay if it's not a bit).

Please can someone fill me in, what does Cum Town have to do with the "Red Scare" "podcast"?

Dr Rock

Features Dasha who was occasionally on Cum Town cos she was hooking up with Adam.

Schnapple

Engaged to him for a period, as I recall.

They don't really have anything to do with each other. Red Scare was one of the 'dirtbag left' podcasts that was, alongside the barely political Cum Town, considered in the same universe (er, Brooklyn) as Chapo circa 2016/2017, but quickly span off in other ideological directions. Not that there was much unity in the first place, but post-Bernie, Chapo seems to have shifted into being more interested in pop cultural history, whereas CT/TAFS doubled-down on the important work of performing poor-quality impressions of celebrities then saying, "I'm gay."

"Fuckin' run 'em down.'

Best episode ever? I felt too hopeful, latching onto Nick's 'Larry Sanders, before he got the show' comment from Shane's podcast, but this felt scarily, brilliantly close to that. If Nick's role as 'producer' is actually going to be Nick's role as 'writer/director/co-star', then this is about to rock ass.
