On a bright note, I just listened to Mark Kermode review Heartstopper on his and Simon's new podcast and he absolutely ADORED it, and he spoke very highly of Yasmin Finney and of trans acceptance that was apparent from the TV show.

He said that the show put him in a good mood and it made him think very highly of the next generation.

With so many journalists being on a potassium rich diet, it's lovely that Simon Mayo and Kermode are not bananas. I love those boys.

Mayo follows a few dodgy Twitter accounts, although nobody like Staniland or Forstater thankfully.

Kermode was also very complimentary of A Fantastic Woman the other year as well; which is probably more to do with it being a good film but nonetheless.

Also the Steve Zahn road trip movie, Cowboys, about an immature dad going on an adventure with his trans son.

Frankly speaking, he's been consistently supportive of trans films/filmmakers/actors since forever.

I'll bet you WAF was a mummy's boy/gentle/possibly even a little effeminate at school, and so encountered a load of nasty bullying from other kids (and possibly adult male role models). He tried to act all tough "like Rock Hudson" but continued to get bullied.

That turned into a whole complex about not being manly enough, which led to him joining the army to prove his grit, where he was also bullied because he was basically just surrounding himself with the same sort of cunts he encountered at school.

The more he soured on this, the more he began to jealously despise anyone whose gender expression proudly defied masculine/feminine norms, which led to this whole insane transphobe sinkhole he's found himself in.

His wife left him because he was such a frightening loon, and his abject fear of looking inwards compels him to blame "TRAs" for his unhappiness. So all he has left is bitterly venting about trans people online to the other goblins, and using phone app filters to give himself the rugged masculine appearance that he thinks he deserves, and which he believes would have stopped all the bullying he experienced at school and in the army.

Yeah Kermode has been pretty vocally pro-trans from quite a way back, he raved about Sean Baker's Tangerine in 2015 and his review of Seahorse (the doc about a trans man trying to have a baby) was so positive it's still quoted on the front page of the film's official website.
