Are we in agreement that bald people should be denied little tiny children's toys and models? (I agree!)

Goldentony

I used to have this Robocop too, he was bald. Didnt have any other bald figures unless you count Mumm Ra The Ever Living.

Baldness is a sign of being a grown-up! I've got a full, thick head of hair, unfortunately, but I can prove my adulthood by the virtue that I don't own any little toy dollies or plushies.

Pink Gregory

We also have a cruet set collection, but that's not what this thread is about.

Goldentony

too busy shagging arses to buy toys, walk out the door, just immediately enter into an arse whether I want to or not

My partner has a load of those Funko pop things, I don't fully see the appeal but they're kind of adorable so what the hell. I'd rather have them on ny windowsill than the kind of tat that "mature adults" decorate with, like pot pourri, houseplants, Toby jugs, vintage victorian erotica etc

Edit: oh it's not those kind of toys in that case I don't forget everything I just posted.

The only sort of thing like that I have is an Alien Facehugger, I bought it as a treat to decorate my parcel shelf when I passed my driving test about 18 years ago. I don't have a car now so it's hanging on the corner of a mirror in my lounge.

chris whitty looking pretty buff these days

Bigfella

Was there ever a set of Indiana Jones figures?

willbo

I wanted a Big Guy and Rusty Robot figure. I never read or saw it, I just wanted the toy. I wish I had a Mars Attacks alien too. I used to have an awesome Ben Grimm/Thing, but I think it got thrown away. I still have a giant realistic 2005 King Kong, charity shop find. One of my kids has an 80s giant Godzilla figure.

I'll be honest - my initial knee-jerk reaction was to dismiss this thread as yet more evidence of the type of infantilization that the CaB hivemind claims to deplore even as it revels in it. Then there's the slightly dubious sexual undertones that often accompany any adult discussion of what are, ostensibly, children's toys. Then I looked around my office and saw my triumvirate of Asterix, Obelix and Getafix figurines stood on one shelf, an old plastic Spider-Man sat placidly meditating and gathering dust in a lotus position upon a stack of books and - how could I possibly forget? - my 1:25 scale statuette of nambla founder David Thorsted lurking (of course!) over by the wastepaper basket with possible intent. Hypocrite? Moi?!? Oui, it would appear. Enjoy your collecting, boys.

madhair60

I have some plushes too... Sonic, Mimikyu and Isabelle from Animal Crossing. I have a Kirby and King Dedede in the post... I think I might just become a NEET

madhair60

just sit and make comics all day and die alone

Goldentony

I dont get owning anything, never mind toys, the idea baffles me

Ah come on surely you must have some funkle pops and boogo bots and wiggle waggle tit men and plunge sponkies

The Ombudsman

No, but if I could get one of Withnail (and maybe I) I'd have that on my desk.

Goldentony

is tarmac a toy, got plenty of that

Got a Vault Boy bobblehead on my desk and a bunch of assorted game figures in boxes and stuff stashed away. I try not to buy this sort of thing nowadays though (barring the odd Warhammer purchase -- I'm weak!) because I figure it's just crap that'll clutter up my room since me only real concern is my PC.

I got a couple of Nendoroids years ago and whatever the non-deformed ones are called, Figma I think. Unacceptably high price for a bit of plastic.

Other than that, an oddly accurate Lara Croft who looks eerily like the old FMV model from the PS1 games. Can't remember where I got it. Also have a very nice model of Worf holding a Bat'leth above my computer at all times to ensure Honour. It's the Diamond Select one, very nice.

Also not sure if it counts as a figure but the New Vegas Collector's Edition had some really cool stuff, life-size Platinum Chip and poker chips for all the different casinos in the game. Also a pack of playing cards which I'm too afraid to handle or ever use for fear of spoiling them.

Aye but it's a big toy what puts out pornos and makes funny noises when you press buttons. Sort of like an adult version of those activity centers they give toddlers. Jangly bells, shiny foil that crackles, squeaky horns.

tourism

I've got a kaiji and a heather from silent hill! they've even got these weird little thumbnail size spare faces with different expressions but idk how you take the default faces off ._.

I have a Lego Princess Leia sort of funko-pop thing my kids got me when Carrie Fisher died. I'm not a fandom person really and I don't like having "stuff" but it was sweet of them.

I wouldn't judge anyone for collecting these things though, I get the appeal and being surrounded by a bit of fantasy and escape brings joy. My son is totally going to be into collectibles, I can tell - he really gets deep into series and franchises in a way I never did. I haven't taken him to a Forbidden Planet yet, but we walked past the big one in Holborn last night and his eyes were like saucers.

willbo

still can't believe that had the cheek to try and sell this
