Phillip Schofield on Good Morning Britain as above. It was not rung out of him from the clips I've seen. He wanted to make a proper statement and said "sorry" for the umpteenth time.

I also worry about tetchy.  Shorthand for unreasonable old man isn't it? 

There are certain ways, certain words, used to describe a person or their behaviour, that reinforce unthinking prejudice.  Tetchy is one of those or try flustered, dithering, if you want to undermine an older woman, a bit of subliminal ageism and sexism there.
