News about this came out a couple of weeks ago, but I only became aware of it today. Anyhow, here's the news piece:

QuoteWoody Harrelson will shoot his next movie while streaming it live into movie theaters

Woody Harrelson is making a movie inspired by one night he ended up in a London jail. On its face, that's not a very interesting premise, but lucky for anyone who roots for Woody Harrelson, that's not all: the film, Lost in London, will be live-streamed in theaters at the same time it's being shot.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, this will mark the first time a film (not a stage play) has been live-streamed into theaters. The 100-minute movie will differ from a play in that it will take place in 14 different locations around London, and will still be shot in a single take.

"No one has ever shot a movie and live broadcast it into cinemas at the same time," Harrelson says in a teaser. "No one's ever been that stupid — until now." Harrelson, who wrote and directed the film, will also star in it, alongside Owen Wilson and Willie Nelson. Lost in London will stream on January 19th at 9PM ET in more than 550 theaters, EW reports.

The exciting news that I can now officially leak to all is that my uncle has a tiny part in this, so will no doubt become world famous and be starring in hollywood films asap. And then hire me as his wacky sidekick in all such flicks. It's what the world's been crying out for after all.

Ahem, anyway, whaddya reckon? Could this turn out to be a fun movie? Or is it a disaster waiting to happen?

Serge

If it ends with Harrelson locked up in a cell, I hope that your uncle is playing exactly the same character that he played in 'Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads?'

Ha, that would have been great but it's sadly not to be, he's playing a taxi driver apparently.

Shit Good Nose

Sounds intriguing but, unfortunately, these real-time/single take things rarely come out any good.

What I'm saying is your uncle may well end up being the best thing about it...

Operty1

Imagine if they didn't have some kind of proper filming permit and he actually got arrested live in his film and put in a cell. Afterwards he tells everyone it's not how it should have ended.

Confusing.

Noodle Lizard

It's an interesting idea, but surely people are going to figure out where they'll be filming and do all they can to interrupt - especially if it veers into public territory, which is must do if they're spanning 14 locations.

BlodwynPig

Imagine SMBH's uncle crashes the taxi, killing Woody Harrelson in the process...*CUT*!!!

NoSleep

Tickets only on sale for US cinemas?

What role was that?

Uncle TechTip

British crews are well practiced in staging live TV dramas after the various soap attempts. I wonder if that had any influence on this. It would be very easy to use locations closed off to the public.

What role was that?

The police sergeant who turns up whenever the Lads are having trouble with the law.
