Was watching that BBC4 factory documentary a few weeks back and Tony Wilson goes off on a bit of a rant about how he couldn't understand why the Smiths were huge when the Stockholm Monsters were struggling to sell any albums at all. So I went off and googled them, sounded intriguing at the very least(John Darnielle and Noel Gallagher seem to be their only well-known fans though), got Alma Matter plus and, after a few listens, I think it's gotta be one of the best albums of the 80s. Doesn't sound unique but at the same time is a fairly distinct midway point between C86, new-wave and New Order(who were obviously involved in the production), doesn't feel like an 80s album either.

The singles collection is pretty strong too, despite a good deal of overlap, their last few songs sound very much like early 90s Pulp.
Some samples, but I think it works best on the album overall.
