Let's please not discuss Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire for very long.

Bedfordshire's countryside is quite nice, though nothing spectacular. It's the towns you have to watch out for, apart from the magical dazzling metropolis that is Luton, home of Castle Knightmare and approximately 12 million chavs.

Actually I quite like Luton. Leave it alone...

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Mmm, west probably is best. But on the East there's Northumberland, which is bloody brilliant.

Bedfordshire is the greatest county in this great nation. Its great.

And Luton is the stunning metropolis at its heart. Luton's glass spires and shimmering pagan monuments tower over the county's rolling hills, ancient valleys and yearning rivers. Yearning for the sea. Yearning for home, the warm Bedfordshire sea lapping on golden beaches.

Yearning for Bedfordshire

I get mixed up with all the Home Counties. They may as well unite them all into one doughnut-shaped county called 'ThescrubbybitfullofindustrialestatesbeforeyougettoLondonshire'.

Yeah, its got some lovely parts to it. I see far more of hertfordshire though and that's got some inspiring land, particularly the lanes from my place, through the land where Crease once roamed and on to WGC, where I go sailing.

Treguard of Dunshelm

Ginyard, was it you that mentioned Sharpenhoe Clappers on here recently? I used to love it when I was a kid and my mum used to take us up there. Haven't been for years, but I remember it being a lovely place.

Me and Mr. Baboon are big fans of St. Neots.

Peterborough brings back semi-fond memories for me. On the up side, there's a nice park there on the outskirts I used to walk round while waiting for my then girlfriend to finish work. On the down side, there's a Wetherspoons pub I once got absolutely sozzled in all on my own one wet, grey afternoon.

Cambridge is a very nice place, though. I was 'lucky' enough to see Barbara Windsor signing some books there in Smiths.

we should have a two-man meet (meat?!) there in that pub sometime! yeah

Neville Chamberlain

Yes, I'd be up to meet (meat?!) you in that pub whose name I've completeky forgotten!

the midnight watch baboon

ooh erm... the Wheatsheaf! I think. Maybe Ginyard can come too, and some other mofo's

purlieu

How on Earth has a potential North vs. South megafight thread turned into a discussion on the most boring parts of the country?  Peterborough?  BEDFORDSHIRE?  C'mon guys, what the fuck?

Neville Chamberlain

So are you coming to the fabulous St. Neots meet (meat?!) then?!?!?

the midnight watch baboon

why can't it be EAST v WEST? Sounds more fun, and slightly witch-tinged.

Hank_Kingsley

I've never been to St.Neots.

Is it as interesting as Chatteris?

Judging by the respective lengths of their entries in wikipedia, no.

the midnight watch baboon

I don't know.

Never been to Chatteris. It's better than Huntingdon though, and worse than St Ives (Cambs branch)

Hank_Kingsley

I don't really bother with anywhere apart from Cambridge and sometimes Ely.

Saffron Walden at a push.

That wouldn't be the one next to Park Road would it? With a big weeping willow in the middle?

the midnight watch baboon

and does thinking about it really give you a semi!?

Neville Chamberlain

I don't specifically remember a weeping willow. The park was called Thorpe Hill or something like that. There was a river and a lake there...?

hoverdonkey

East v West pits me against Mrs Donkey. Norfolk v Wiltshire. Only one winner there. And it's not Wiltshire. However, the most surprising aspect of our relationship is our offspring has entirely web-free feet

the midnight watch baboon

see in the new EAST vs WEST rules, I'm pretty much a midlander now! Bostin'.

^ughh!

MojoJojo

Oh, probably Ferry Meadows then.

Hank_Kingsley

What's even in the West?

Bristol? That was cool once. In the 90s. For five minutes.

Bath? That's just a load of Roman crap. You can go to Colchester for all that.

I don't even know anywhere else apart from that.

Aha that's the one, I just thought of Thorpe Park or whatever it's called because that's close to where my girlfriend worked in Orton Southgate. Bah!

Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Bermuda, New York...!

Jemble Fred

Why the fuck would anyone ever go to Colchester?

Bath's not Roman anyway, it was here for centuries before those cunts turned up.

Hank_Kingsley

They may wish to avoid cider swilling loons.
