how is it possible, for someone that doesn't exist, to find something funny.

The Mollusk

My wife who definitely exists dislikes this as much as me because she's cool as fuck and knows what's up

First or last episode of season 2. The one that appears when you press play on the ITYSL homepage. Because Netflix is dreadful and doesn't know how to order their shows, apparently (although I guess with a sketch show it's less essential).

PlanktonSideburns

Fining descriptions of screeches by these guys to be funnier than my experience watching them

They read like a decent hsart post

The coffins sketch would work better ad a Goldentony post

Mister Six

It's not perfect - the first episode of season two also has the buff kids sketch, which is an obvious repeat of Baby of the Year, except as a weird corporate event. It seems to be building towards something, with the boss looking absolutely petrified about being forced to rate how impressive a child's body is, like perhaps he's got some kind of nonce record or he's just embarrassed to do this weird thing in front of his employees, but then it just... stops. Like they either wrote an ending that was so shit they dropped it (in a show that has no fixed length, so time wasn't an issue) or they couldn't think of anything and just said "Fuck it, we'll just do this bit, then."

But even that has some good chuckles in it.

I can't really distinguish the two seasons because of this. On my first watch I got halfway through season 2 before realising it was season 2, so it's all mixed up as one thing to me. As you say, doesn't make too big a difference - I think the only example I can think of is the Little Buff Boys sketch made more sense once I saw the "Baby of the Year Sketch".

EDIT: Which you have beaten me to noting!

Ron Superior

Off to a really strong start. Yes, it's more of the same, but it's fucking hilarious! Debate guy, egg game, ponytail, tough dad video. So good to have it back.

Pseudopath

The Driving Crooner keeps popping into my head and making me splutter. Surprised nobody's done a GIF of it yet.

selectivememory

I really liked the Driving Crooner and the egg game sketches. And also the one with Fred Armisen. But otherwise the first couple of episodes haven't really done it for me so far.

PlanktonSideburns

Heritage looks like a character from the show

C_Larence

Oh sorry so it's not cool anymore?

Let me just crunch the numbers on that:

SNL*(SNL-Stuart Heritage)/C_Larence² = 5.

PlanktonSideburns

Don't drag me into this cool/uncool thing. I have my precious opinion about it, and I respect the HELL out of you halfwits who fail to appreciate it

He's actually done two reviews of two different shows to the effect of "Succession isn't the best show on television, this is" in two days:

Fucksake Stu, the Graun's on its arse, maybe try a bit harder.

madhair60

Ep 6 Chunky sketch trying my patience, no laughs. this show definitely errs on the side of "shit", but the stuff that does land is very funny

Edit: Bozo dubbed over is funny

selectivememory

Episode 3: Thought the sketch with the dog-haired man on the date was great, also enjoyed Tim Heidecker as the doctor who desperately wants to go clubbing. The other sketches were good to so-so. Probably the best episode so far in this season.

Quote from: Goldentony on May 26, 2023, 07:53:41 PMTHE BONES ARE THEIR MONEY, SO ARE THE WORMS

I don't know if it was just the mood I was in at the time, but this sketch had me cry laughing.

I've not finished season 3 yet and I don't know whether I'm so attached to most of the moments from seasons 1 and 2 after seeing them so many times that new content is jarring, but a lot of the stuff this season isn't hitting quite right for me.

I thought I was loving the dog-door ad when that horrible thing came stomping through, and the whole thing of him pointing out that for a few seconds his brain had to adjust to what he was seeing before he realised it wasn't actually a monster, but I didn't really like the way it went after that. It sort of ended like a crap version of the coffin flop guy's freakout. I sort of wish it had somehow been played more sinister than shouty, kind of like the Limmy sketch about the strange creature that comes in through the window. Just so we don't have every Tim Robinson advert sketch spiralling into the same bitter rant every time. That's the thing with sketch shows though, to be honest. Sometimes once you start noticing the pattern it gets a bit less fun

Quite a few bits are feeling like crapper versions of bits I've seen before actually. I know that those of you who think the show is crap anyway will be itching to reply with "but it's crap anyway". The rat woman sketch and all, that felt like it didn't really pop off. From what I've seen of Patti Harrison she's hilarious, I discovered her from ITYSL, and she's great in this sketch, but I dunno, the actual idea felt off.

The nasty little ponytail man inexplicably having hundreds of stock photos of cigars on his phone is hilarious to me though.

The sincerity he delivers this song with and the little "I love you mom" at the end is heartwarming. Especially when it's the end to a sketch where he's being followed by a horny man honking at him.

literally was reading through the thread reading all of people's favourite sketches, thinking "can't wait to post Honk If You're Horny, can't believe no one's posted it yet", and here we are. bastard.

can't wait to watch the entire new season in one sitting.

I felt so sorry for Jellybean. Poor bloke.

i smiled at the reveal in that sketch, and the subsequent hug

shocked that anyone would consider it a favourite though???

SteveDave

I watched the first episode of the new series last night and laughed heartily at the political interviewer who just went on his phone and the man who was on the "Love Island" style TV show just to go on the zip wire.

Deliciousbass

Totally get people not liking this. Even as a fan I think it's wildly patchy and repetitious. But when it hits it makes me laugh more than just about anything else going.

The delivery of 'And now you're in even more in trouble than me unfortunately.' in the first episode really made me laugh. The total cack-handed phrasing makes my brain tickle.

Two Headed Sex Beast

@Deliciousbass phrases like "I can't know how to hear any more about tables" tickle my brain too.

Even though many sketches descend into "man yells about something bizarre", it's the little details or those odd wordings that really make it for me. Like in the dog door sketch, the small aside about how a swing dancer turned his wife upside down at a wedding and it really bothered him.
