So the new thing is called Pith and is at the Royal Exchange, Manchester

https://www.royalexchange.co.uk/event/pith/#performances

There might be music.

There might be music and the phrase "You will one day", and a man in a coffee shop asking if they charge for Babycinos. There might be someone's hand in mine when I wake up and the sound of somewhere else and a notebook full of crossed out names. There might be more trains than usual needing to be repaired at the same time. There might be cake and natural causes and a ladybird walking across the screen of a smartphone. There might be other ideas and a dog with a haircut and my reflection inside a fitting room. There might be gaps in the stories and stories in the gaps and work to be done. There might be a new thought and an old friend and someone else's coat too close to my leg. There might be clues and there might be carpet and there might be a busker in Cardiff singing hallelujah.

And,

It's possible,

There might be jokes.

Tiggles

I just made a very excited noise.

last night?

I went in to the Royal Exchange today to see if they knew when tickets were going on sale and the guy said 'very soon' although I took that to mean Monday rather than tomorrow.

Yes 13:00 tomorrow

Weirdly the link to the 2:30 performance on the Sat seems to be broken on their own website, so I'm not sure quite what will happen when that goes live. Which is a shame as it's the one I want to book!

holyzombiejesus

Apparently not going on sale today now. If anyone hears different, please update on here?

It's still set for 1 on their system by the looks of it but given he hasn't sent a mail about it, who knows. Are we expecting ticket buying to be an Oasis-esque bloodbath, or has his audience become somewhat less rabid as he keeps hinting at in the recent emails about London tickets.

Are you a member at the RXT as I can't access the seating plan or find out how to get the 1pm notice? Nothing clickable on that list of dates...

Apparently the RXT have their hands full at the moment as there have been some issues and cancellations with their rave version(!) of Midsummer Nights Dream.

Hoping it's not as crazy as usual, given there are 10 shows. Then again, I'm hoping to go to 3 of them and if everybody is as greedy enthusiastic as me it might get hairy.

The links are in the HTML source code of the page they're just hidden (!) but I found it on google just searching for Daniel Kitson Pith or similar.

itf

You can buy using the links in the source code of the page now. Do with this information what you will.

E.g. https://www.royalexchange.co.uk/book-online/239601 (just increment the number on the end to change the show)

Nothing for the matinee yet though?

Not that I can see. Maybe it'll be added if it sells well? Anyway it's the second link on Google for Daniel Kitson pith so feels like fair game to me.

cakeinmilk

I called the box office and they aren't sure what's going on with the matinee, so looks like I'm going 25th and evening of 26th.

Yeah I got evening of the 26th too in the end.

I mean what's the point of a secret internet forum if you can't share the source code between Danoraks?

(Thank you.)

itf

Booking is officially live now, but the matinee still doesn't work.

paddy72

#170
Booked for 25th.

Spoiled for new Kitson, after seeing Collaborator just a couple of months back.

holyzombiejesus

Weird that he's still not emailed about it. The matinee has now been unlisted so I presume he and the theatre have been in contact. Hope we don't all get refunds and a new on sale date announced.

Tiggles

I strongly suspect that the Royal Exchange have asked him to hold off announcing it until they have capacity to cope with any surge in demand on either their website or their box office.

They have just announced that the whole run of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' has now been cancelled due to a range of issues with the production, they will definitely have their hands full sorting out that shitshow.

itf

This has disappeared entirely now...

Quote from: Tiggles on September 16, 2024, 09:46:18 PMOh no!

Hope he's not pulled it. The whole Midsummer Nights Dream thing has turned out to be a political row.

paddy72

Don't like the sound of that.

Tiggles

I've just read. I wouldn't be surprised if he's pulled the show should the MEN story hold up. He's not very overtly political but on the issue of creative integrity alone this is a difficult situation.

I know we'll get refunds etc, what a shitshow all round though.
