Best Fonzies

Bitterpie

As I'm sure the majority of you are aware of the comic term Fonzie for an outrageous cameo character who steals the show whenever he appears (named after the arch Teddy Boy from Happy Days).

I can only thing of two at the moment - Finsbury Park from the Harry Hill show and CJ from Reggie Perrin.

I apologise  if you've had this thread before but I'm as new to this as Ant and Dec are to movie stardom.

TotalNightmare

I'll start

get the easy ones out of the way

Captain Flash - Blackadder
Father Dougal - Father Ted
Alexi Sayle  - The Young Ones
Kinky John - Catterick

Actually, if its cameos, its a little harder. For example Dougal isnt really a cameo character...

Chris Morris - The IT Crowd
Butters - South Park

Al Tha Funkee Homosapien

The Fonze.

Tobias Funke.

Bitterpie

I'd forgotten the Driscoll Brothers in Only Fools and Horses.

Utter Shit

Trigger in Only Fools And Horses, surely.

I wouldn't exactly say he steals the show, but whenever Bishop Brennan shows up in Father Ted the show becomes even more fantastic than usual.

Mayor West in Family Guy. Greatest cameo ever, fucking class.

Tyres in Spaced, quality.

Jack Geller in Friends - Elliott Gould is a legend.

Don't know whether you'd call him a cameo exactly, but the janitor in Scrubs only turns up for a total of about 30 seconds in every episode but kills me every time.

TotalNightmare

Les - Vic Reeves BNO
or
Dave Lister - Vic Reeves BNO
Uncle Peter - Smell Of Reeves and Mortimer
Holly - (to some extent) Red Dwarf

Jemble Fred

Family Guy has these for just a short time, and then I have to admit they can get tired very quickly. Their self-satisfied over-use of the Greased Up Deaf Guy being the most obvious.

But I've yet to tire of the 'Wannafightabouddit?' guy.

EDIT WITH SCRUBS SPOILER: Brendan Fraser did qualify for his Scrubs appearances, but then... they... killed him off.

Bitterpie

I like Adam West's cameo in The Simpsons.

Utter Shit

I greatly enjoyed the multiple-appearances-in-one-episode cameo in Family Guy of the "HE'S A PHONY! HE'S JUST A GREAT BIG PHONY!" guy.

Quote from: "Bitterpie"I like Adam West's cameo in The Simpsons.

I like that, but I think he's trumped by Buzz Aldrin's appearance

TotalNightmare

ADAM WEST in Family Guy always appeals!

Garam

Kramer, in that to casual watchers of Seinfeld he's the most memorable/recognisable one, just as to casual watchers of Happy Days, the Fonz is the most memorable/recognisable one.

Probably. I'm a non-watcher of Happy Days, so I don't know.

Lt Plonker

Did The Fonz appear in the very first episode of Mork and Mindy or did I dream that?

Johnson in Peep Show.

Quote from: "Lt Plonker"Johnson in Peep Show.

I don't know how on earth I forgot about him

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Franklin Delano Bluth.

Garam

Actually, Newman probably fits the bill rather than Kramer.

Simpsons - Burns?
Curb - Richard Lewis?

I'm clutching at straws here.

The original fonz himself, winkler, in his arrested development incarnation.

Mork certainly appeared in happy days, perhaps they flashed back to it in the premiere M&M?

Emergency Lalla Ward Ten

Jonatton Yeah?.

Only joking. Howard and Hilda.

Brutus Beefcake

Jonatton Yeah? did steal the show in Nathan Barley but that's not really saying much.

I see your Janitor and raise you Ted the lawyer.

Johnny Yesno

Another vote for Tyres in Spaced.

Oh go on then - Jonatton Yeah?

Utter Shit

If only I could control these FOCKUN mood swings.

Mr. Analytical

Quote from: "Munday's Chylde"The original fonz himself, winkler, in his arrested development incarnation.

Yeah, I'd vote for this.

"I am not a girl!"

The Fonz wasn't a cameo in Happy Days though, he was a regular character and got at least as much screen time as Mr. or Mrs. Cunnigham.  He's probably on a par with Kramer actually as he's not a main character but he's foremost in the background.

Here are some others -

Bishop Brennan in Father Ted.
Mr. Burns in the Simpsons.
Mr. Mackaye in Porridge.
The Major in Fawlty Towers.
Ace Rimmer in Red Dwarf.
Geoff's wife in Curb your Enthusiasm.

Duckula

Superhands in Peep Show
Crabman in My Name is Earl

Mr. Analytical

Ah yes! Super Hans.

I'm not as big a fan of Crabman as others clearly are.  I think Earl's ex is a far more stand-out character.

Cack Hen

As Brutus said just now, Ted from Scrubs is fantastic, easily the best character. Conversely , I find the janitor a bit annoying and samey.

Ted is great, though.

Ted: You may have put the hospital in somewhat of a legal bind

Kelso: Oh for gods sake, you couldn't frighten a child, Ted.

Ted: Who would want to?

It's the way he says it.

captain Grimes

(cough, splutter, gag) finchey off of the office......

(god i feel dirty)

and yeah the fonz was in the first spork and mindy.

god damn it....mr hankey a la suf perk

rjd2

Zapp Brannigan from Futurama surely?

SimonJT

Superintendent Chalmers. I think he's great.

Garam

All the Phil Hartman characters in the Simpsons, too.

And I've always been rather fond of Ned Flanders.
