Not tried the demo yet, but I do hate the character design. Not because she's a sexy lady, but because she is kind of boring looking. If it was someone in Vanquish/Metal Gear Rising style armour it would be more appealing than coomer bait.

Seems to be getting pretty decent feedback from what I've read. Similar  to souls but not quite as difficult seems to be a common theme. Probably won't be a day one purchase as I've got lots of other things to play and still have armoured core on my shelf unopened but looking like I might grab it at some point.

Completed the demo and found it to be really decent. Doesn't feel quite as smooth on the controls as I'd like but it's really solid.

My main issue is she just looks stupid. The armor design and the overly glistening jiggling animation just looks stupid and not sexy at all. Play an embarrassing horny game if you want, but I couldn't wank to this if I tried.

Played some of the demo. I think if this didn't have the culture war angle of sexy lady and people buying the game to spite those who don't want the sexy lady, it'd be pretty forgotten. It just feels like another Soulslike, just with a novel setting, combat that's a bit more kinetic, and sexy ladies.

There are some similarities with Nier Automata, which is a game I didn't like, but that felt less soulless and less grubby despite also having heavily sexualised robot(?) girl protagonists.

If it's a shit game then no one is going to buy it to spite anyone who doesn't want the sexy lady. If it's a decent game it will sell well as it's a AAA ps5 exclusive with good graphics. That in combination with it being a good game (if it is) will be enough for it to do well, the sexy lady is irrelevant. Tomb Raider didn't sell well due to Lara Croft having massive tits, it sold well because it's a good game.

If anyone wants to wank over the protagonist then I'm sure there will be some cosplay porn out within the next few months.

At least with Nier: Automata, you had to cause your robot to explode, knackering her health with no real strategic benefit, to see her arse.

But yeah, N:A does have a soul, and a ton of conceptual and narrative depth. The cheesecakey maid/twink robots, while still cringey as fuck, consequently feel less leering and more like slightly embarrassing concessions to its oddball creator's proclivities. Like the toll you pay for this otherwise intelligent and thoughtful game, rather than the primary attraction.

Looks like a great looking game with some decent character action combat and very shiny wankbait. I doubt it was intended to inflame a cultural battleground as much as it comes from a society where hyper sexualisation, body dysmorphia and cosmetic surgery are normalised as fuck. If you ever been to SK, you know there are people who look like basically like this.

i played the demo and thought it felt a bit stiff, dunno the controls just felt off. actually didn't think the graphics were all that and in fact the game seems rubbish tbh

They should have done what the original Nier did in Japan and released two versions. PS3 was a pretty bishi boy who protected the girl because she was his sister. 360 other was a gruff ugly buff dude who protected the girl as he was her dad. I think the logic was the 3 people who owned 360s in Japan must have western tastes so prefer ugly macho men, while the PS3 owners were bigger fans of your usual JRPG designs. In the west I believe we only got ugly dad Nier in the original release, but for the re-release for PS4/Xbox One we only got the pretty boy.

Have one version sexy lady EVE, have one version an aged man who would not be considered attractive by most. Problem solved.

I played the demo, and I agree. I was very stiff!!!

But yeah no didn't seem great. The tiny fraction of a second between input and animation taking too long felt bad. Just very mid.

7/10 That'll get 8's and 9's.

The input delay has been criticised a fair bit and it is a concern - It definitely doesn't feel as smooth as it looks.

I'm going to see what the reviews say before I commit as 70 quid is a big ask. I definitely want to play this as some point though.

DF review is very positive, seems extremely smooth and polished. I also like the sound of a proper old school Sony partner game. Bring on the top tier jank. Main obstruction for me is how shiny the main character's ass is. Extremely distracting reflections. I'm not being funny or pervy. I guess there are different clothes so hopefully there's a matte finish option.

I find the cheescakey stuff a bit cringe myself, but (one quick wank google later) why bother patching out plunging necklines or hip-high cuts on a swimsuit costume when the customer surely knows what they're buying at this point, and they can choose any number of other costumes instead? It's not like a bit of lace across the boobs and a covered hipbone is going to bring back any disgusted punters put off by the adolescent design principles, is it?
