Erm 'Googlies and Chinamen'

Spoiler alert
(I don't really know cricket)

There's a clip on Dave's YouTube channel of
Spoiler alert
Rosie Jones on Mel Giedroyc's show talking about wanting to be on Taskmaster, and the comments are making me really depressed. There's some properly horrible ones, and I just know there's going to be loads more horrible ones when it's actually announced.

I dunno - the Taskmaster online community are a pretty accepting bunch.  The people who'll slag the booking off are the type of cunts who'd slag off anything they were involved in anyway.

Twilkes

Rather bizarrely there was a thread on Reddit OVER TWO YEARS ago looking forward to a series when
Spoiler alert
Jack Dee and Rosie Jones

were on the cast together - did they know something no-one else did?

Twilkes

Jack Dee has long been one of Alex's white whales, ever since his Celebrity Big Brother days, so I hope he doesn't disappoint. Imagine if he was a right cunt!

TheDevilPuppet

So, cricket & 1950s gumshoe then.

From the one episode I saw, I think JD was playing it spot on - being curmudgeonly, but only up to a point and getting stuck into the tasks.

Andy Zaltzman has booked a tour, obviously hoping to ride a wave of popularity after Taskmaster airs in the autumn. He was always such a niche comedian, such a shame to think he'll soon be riding above the crowd suspended from balloons singing along to 80s TV adverts....

This is back next Thursday (12th).

First contestant interview of the series with The Zaltz

Twilkes

And Babatunde Aléshé - these are simultaneously the worst and best interviews they've ever done, it's about the reactions not the answers, and if this is only the second one the fifth one is going to be mental as Zaltzman's was fairly straightforward in comparison:

Nice to see he's still doing comedy, I thought he'd moved full-time into the cricket data gig.

Oof didn't like that at all.

Might be because Paul Williams continues to knock it out of the park but I now find Alex supremely irritating and this sort of business doesn't help one bit.

lankyguy95

Most in the comments seem to hate it too.

Weird because I found both interviews really funny.

frajer

To be honest by the end I'd sort of been won round, possibly because I felt the same relief as Babatunde that it was over, but found most of it brutally grating.

Scoops

i've also started to find alex's brand of humour quite grating, it's that mixture of deliberately annoying but also anal, pernickety and slightly smug that adds up to something i don't care for. it's why greg works so well as taskmaster and why tim key is perfect on no more jockeys - when there's someone there to deflate the self-congratulatory tone

I love Alex as an interviewee or bouncing off other comedians (NMJ) but I do find his own material, especially The Horne Section, intensely irritating.

Yeah - two browsers open and replied the wrong thread.

As you were.

Starting to enjoy how much of a sensory nightmare these are.

Spoiler alert
Alex breaking at "I TAKE MS."

Emma Sidi is so fucking good, very excited to see her on it.

Twilkes

It's really revealing the character of the contestants. Emma Sidi's was like a graduate assessment centre interview from the 90s, before companies realised that asking what colour your parachute is was dumb.

I can only ponder what will happen in Rosie's interview...

boinkboink

I've enjoyed these interviews, I'm glad they have stopped pretending they are actually giving any information about the contestants.

BeardFaceMan

As Alex says in the Babatunde interview, "I know, it's so annoying", which is becoming his MO more and more. He's always had that side to him but even Greg seems like he's getting genuinely exasperated at Alex's opening bit before the prize task now. I think that, along with his increasing smugness, is why I prefer the NZ show these days, Greg is a better Taskmaster but I'm much preferring Paul Williams as the assistant.

greencalx

I quite like Alex's schtick, but I suspect this could be why I don't make friends easily.

TheDevilPuppet

The ep2 review in Radio Times confirms the s18 teams.  As expected it's Jack and Rosie.
