Oh, this should be easy - I heard the absolute worst slice of 'indie' on 6music a few days ago, and I tried to make a mental note of it because it was so incredibly poor. But now I can't remember it. All I can recall is that the song (and band?) was titled to be like a computer file - something like "NEW_SONG_(GUITAR_SOLO)".

It was so so shit - like noughties British guitar band shit. Anyone know who I'm talking about so I can remember to hate them forever?

The Reytons. Terrible:

Jesus. There seems to be a few terrible 'The' bands coming out of northern England at the moment. The Lathums, The Reytons and this lot - The Heavy North:

https://youtu.be/aAne6uFw2ao

I pissed myself when the vocals kicked in.

Thoughts as the intro built up "it's going to sound like The Music"

and it did.

This technically falls under this thread's remit?

Another Youtube comment from that LARRY PINK THE HUMAN thing:

Quoteits like the 2005 vibe's back!

Indie music is basically this zombie genre - it's dead, but people keep making it. It's amazing how you can trace all of this shit back to Oasis, even if later landfill bands had vague electronic elements like the aforementioned dullards above. Liam & Noel were like a two-man musical Chernobyl, their past surroundings still poisoned and barren 25 years later.

And this is still relevant 25 years later as well.

That at least is funny in its shitness, whereas the other stuff on this thread is more infuriating.

I'd rather die
Than hook up with another straight white guy
I'd rather die
Than fake it like I'm having a good time
I'd rather die
Than spend the night
With another Ryan
Or Matthew
Or John
Yeah I'd rather die
Die die die die die
Roll over and die

I mean, outside of the vocals, at least that's interesting to listen to.

Fine, go and hook up with a gay guy then, I'm sure that'll be much more fun for both of you.

Hopefully all these bands will be #metoo'd out of existence soon.

Fucking hell haha.

Even funnier than I was anticipating.

The Lathums are a local band of where I'm from and that's what they were last time I saw them. Wigan Athletic keep promoting them through their social media and was genuinely flabbergasted to hear they'd broke through.

Here's another local band who get to play big festivals doing their anti-working class reggae: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8ZSx63q8C4

Journo: 'So, who would you say your influences are?'

Lead Reyton: 'Early Arctic Monkeys'

Journo: 'Anyone else?'

Lead Reyton: 'No'

WTF is this reddybrek bullshit. Why's the drummer got earplugs in? North too heavy?

Huge relief it had an unconventional name, as every time this year I've heard "what's that terrible song on 6 Music" it seems to allude to Peanuts or Dark Days by Yard Act, who I genuinely like.

In conclusion, SullySullivan85 is a land of contrasts.

Heard this the other day:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XvC5alnYrw&feature=emb_title

The lead up to the part is bad enough that some of you might not wait the full 60 seconds for it to get atrocious:
https://youtu.be/8XvC5alnYrw?t=60

There's a 2nd MC in there at some point and it's easy to bail before she gets going, although she's better than the bloke.

Good to see Lady Sovereign still out there.

That's not really Lady Sovereign.

Imagine having Jet and Kasabian as your influences.

I googled this band, and apparently their target audience already hates them because they're some sort of corporate fake-progressive thing.

https://loudwire.com/tiktok-band-tramp-stamps-why-everyone-hate-them/

QuoteFirst, the band have gotten flack for some of their lyrics and also for their perceived pandering to Gen Z as a queer, feminist punk band — an identity many have called out as not being authentic.

The second, and this appears to have stemmed from research done following the lyrics backlash, accuses them of being industry plants. Some internet sleuths have connected them to producer Lukasz Gottwald, known professionally as Tyson Trax or Dr. Luke.

Gottwald is a controversial figure in the music industry — he was embroiled in a long legal battle against pop singer Kesha where she accused him of rape and emotional abuse and he countersued for defamation and breach of contract.

QuoteThe group features three women with brightly colored hair and an obviously rock aesthetic. They also attempt to align the band with feminism as a quote from guitarist Caroline Baker in the band's bio claims the band's music is "the kind of stuff women talk about all the time with their friends, but no one's ever put it to this kind of music before."

So the lyrics condemn those who 'break into local family stores', yet he's wearing a Dawn of the Dead t-shirt. Hypocrite much?
