Think there might be a bit left in this big empty box of David Gray - chuck it in with this stale put-on-the red-light rat-trap male saviour fantasy, now we're cookin!

I googled this band, and apparently their target audience already hates them because they're some sort of corporate fake-progressive thing.

https://loudwire.com/tiktok-band-tramp-stamps-why-everyone-hate-them/

Yep if the youtube comments are anything to go by they're not fooling anyone.

Here's another local band who get to play big festivals doing their anti-working class reggae: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8ZSx63q8C4

They look about twelve so the dodgy politics can maybe be written off as the naivete of clueless young wanksnaps and the real villains are the adults that are encouraging them, but fucking hell...this makes 'Puff Puff Give' by Hannah's Field sound like Prince Far I. I refuse to believe anything this thread throws up can be worse than this but I can't wait to find out.

Jesus. There seems to be a few terrible 'The' bands coming out of northern England at the moment. The Lathums, The Reytons and this lot - The Heavy North:

https://youtu.be/aAne6uFw2ao

I pissed myself when the vocals kicked in.

It's quite jarring as I'm fully expecting Speedo from Rocket from the Crypt to start singing, instead of some auld jakey shouting at a bus stop. Can't quite place what RFTC song that intro reminds me of - probably all of them.

Heard this the other day:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XvC5alnYrw&feature=emb_title

The lead up to the part is bad enough that some of you might not wait the full 60 seconds for it to get atrocious:
https://youtu.be/8XvC5alnYrw?t=60

There's a 2nd MC in there at some point and it's easy to bail before she gets going, although she's better than the bloke.

The bit where he goes "OI, DICKHEAD! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?" just made me laugh out loud. Cheers for posting, I feel less depressed now then I did after just watching the reggae young Tories.

As an RFTC obsessive I can immediately confirm it's almost EXACTLY the same as the intro to 'Waste It'.

THANK YOU! I wasn't about going to start pulling out all my RFTC LPs to track it down, but yes, that's it! Don't listen to that album enough. Fucking Shucks - so good.

KRS-One's let himself go.

The Haters thing is so obviously a manufactured thing it's not worth getting bothered about.

The Reytons are horrifically depressing though. Might take to my bed. A fitting band for these times.

The Lathums are a local band of where I'm from and that's what they were last time I saw them. Wigan Athletic keep promoting them through their social media and was genuinely flabbergasted to hear they'd broke through.

A licky boom boom down

ProvanFan

Fuck, I'm going to be doing the Jeramiah Ferrari voice once I've had a drink later. It's inevitable. I'll need to stay at home until it passes.

They no-showed a gig one of my friends had booked about seven years ago, so they've at least done quite well to maintain their youthful looks after a good few years on the wook circuit.

non capisco

Fuck em then. What were they singing about seven years ago? 'Mi love the bedroom tax'

Jesus, it's Hurricane #1. What is going on with the singer's voice?

I'm going through the videos in this thread and all I can say about the Reytons is, the Arctic Monkeys have a lot to answer for.

The Tramp Stamps are apparently an industry plant. They're quite fit though

Did anyone ask for a Noel Gallagher tribute act? No? Well...

'Where's my family gone?'

Probably fucked off when they heard you open your guitar case, I should think.

The Lathums.

Jesus Christ.  Spot the difference.  Landfill indie's not dead!

hate the video far more than the song. what the fuck is that witless shit all about

I dunno if it is really. I've heard loads of objectively poor drum 'n bass backed up with misguided delusion over the years, the only thing this one has on it is the video looks quite well done, but cheap HD video and editing software has made that sort of polish a lot more egalitarian.

sevendaughters

oh here's one I actually saw live, I am near-ish to the camera for this and really struggling not to laugh. the band is called Protea Skies and the singer had the exact same accent as Arabella Weir's 'no offence' woman. from Worcester.

"Mindless Riots" was uploaded in 2012, so it seems to be about the 2011 English riots. I imagine they'll finally get out "Mindless Riots, Again?" by this summer...

Indie music just ate itself whole. It's mental how big it was. Maybe not in record sales. But there has always been some decent bands kicking about. But britpop also rans nearly killed it off. The whole early 00s stuff, there were alot of decent bands, but then the landfill dross just killed it stone dead. And it has never recovered. And then you hear the lathums. I mean, fair play to them, probably nice lads. Hardly earth shattering. it is so "indie club"

Say what you like about oasis and a few years later the strokes, and forget what they eventually became. when they came out the traps. They were really exciting.

They're both absolutely fucking shit, and every band they inspired is shit too

Pauline Walnuts

Let's face it, all recent music is terrible, everything after 1985, there will never be albums as good as The Dark Side of the Moon, Tubular Bells, or that Dire Straits one, whichever one it was.

This is a callback to that post I can't find about certain albums being a sign you think good music stopped 35 years ago.

idunnosomename

always liked how the strokes' first album was an anagram of It Is Shit

Hopefully all these bands will be #metoo'd out of existence soon.

More likely to be be MOTD'd, I expect.

Haha. Fair play. I liked them at the time tho.
