The assumption of most people would be that it's some generic progressive statement in favour of LGBTQIA+, even if they don't immediately understand it.

The term "gender critical" also makes zero sense to anyone not already immersed in the language. It sounds like they're generally in favour of liberalised gender identity, critical of traditional binary gender roles or something. I might ask a few people later and see what they think it means.
