Quote from: Poirots BigGarlickyCorpse on November 25, 2021, 07:42:56 PMI agree with all of this. But also, I have a feeling that cis women who grew up in the 50s, 60s and 70s don't really understand what it's like to be a tomboy the way women who grew up from the 80s onward do. I was (and still am, to an extent) a tomboy, but I never wanted to be a boy. Me liking Transformers and Ninja Turtles didn't have this transgressive veil of "WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS VERY VERY MALE THING" hanging over it. Older TERFs who are "concerned" about girls being "transed" don't realise that their daughters and granddaughters know the difference between liking something that's traditionally "for boys" and wanting to literally be a boy.

That's a very good point.

I think there's a level or arrogance combined with ignorance that because they don't know what it feels like to be trans they just assume it either isn't real or it's just liking boy/girl stuff.

I have no idea how it feels to be trans because I don't have a frame of reference. I've tried to think of a suitable analogy but if I'm way off please tell me, I liken to trying to describe blue to a person who has been blind from birth, it's impossible since they don't have a frame of reference but that doesn't mean blue doesn't exist. The terfs are angrily shouting that blue isnt real and harassing anyone who says otherwise.

"Thanks for lazily copying shit off Twitter Graham; it's achieving the desired impact of leaving me feeling shit scared and vulnerable. How do I give you even more of my state pension?"

Ferris

The people egging him on are some of the worst of the worst.

It's like encouraging an alcoholic who's lost everything to keep going and at a higher clip because that person's (self-destructive) behaviour normalizes their own, and who gives a fuck about the impact on the target person and those around them.

Just reported, if you select 'Paypal.me link' they'll ask you to insert the link, the one on the post above isn't in the correct format and they won't accept it so use this one: https://www.paypal.me/glinner1

QuotePeople kept asking if they could donate without taking out a subscription to my Substack,so I created this link while trying to figure out whether to be insulted or not
Haha fucking hell.  He really is a bitter old man, isn't he?  He finds it insulting that a GC wouldn't take out a substack subscription.

He really see things as transactional and people owe him

Oops, thanks! I blame Safari's incognito mode sending me round the houses, and then me just copying that link.

Nah, you didn't make a mistake. When you go into the link, it automatically changed to the wrong one. Very awkward from PayPal.

idunnosomename

well when he started his substack he didn't even think of charging for it. then there was a point he was bashing himself on the head for sending out too many emails. the Patreon was a way for people to donate without getting deluged with his shit. that he's got this little pass-agg on his paypal is fucking hilarious

Reported.

I always like to add a "it reflects very badly on your company if you don't permanently ban him, now this has been brought to your attention" to the end of my Glinner reports now.

Reported. Their terms of service have a specific policy against hate speech, which I cited in the report.

I linked them to the Pink News on him joining the Her app to dox users.

Quote from: Janie Jones on November 25, 2021, 11:00:23 AMI'm not denying that's what you've observed but it's definitely not my experience. The couple of people I know who proudly identify as Terfs are vegan eco-activist anti-racist socialists.
I'm sure there are some TERFs with otherwise normal liberal beliefs. But even among the leftist feminist TERFs in my experience they are anti-sex worker and have a bunch of other puritanical beliefs (anti-bi, anti-poly, anti-promiscuity, etc) and an urge to have people conform to their worldview and behaviour. I can see how being a vegan eco-activist could feed into it. But obviously generalising is dangerous. Mostly.

I've certainly noticed a trend of people who think "natural is best" (regardless of the consequences) being more likely to be anti-trans. They also tend to be a bit ableist, but they still consider themselves of the left.

QuoteGLINNER'S TWITTER
....oh, I'm too tired to list it all. Just look at it.
BAFTA award winner Glinner, too tired to list it all.  And people are paying him to do this.

Quote from: GlinnerI thought, well, they're different races, and of course people are going to ask why a man would adopt someone older than him.

Turns out the son is not actually in the photograph!

And no mention of the mother because she too has been magically removed from the picture.
This is how disingenuous he is, if you read the original article you'll notice three things:

1.  That picture Graham uses is not the lead picture.
2.  Under that picture it says "The author (left) and his husband"
3.  If you read the article, it's about the challenges/head fuck of being black and adopting a white baby, the fact he's homosexual is barely touched upon.

So, he's against same sex couples adopting now, is he?  Oh I'm sorry, I forgot, We're the homophobic ones for supporting 'conversion therapy'.  Fucking twat.

He still banging on about Billy Bragg, saying that '[It's a] Disgusting minimisation of targeted harassment.', yet two paragraphs later:

QuoteTeesside woman accused of exposing penis, using sex toy and masturbating in public
I am no longer on Twitter (I was banned for saying "Men aren't women tho") and therefore unable to do so myself, but perhaps some of my subscribers could politely ask Teeside Live why they are writing headlines like this one? Why are they pinning this most categorically male of male crimes on their female readership? Don't they owe women an apology for this flippant insult?
Yes, they are being really polite in the replies there Graham.  Hypocrite.

samadriel

Man, "All Teesside women accused of exposing penises, using sex toy and masturbating in public" is a weird headline.

phantom_power

Wasn't there a thing going around TERF Twitter a while ago about how gay adoption was more erasure of women and exploiting their wombs or some other shit?

Sonny_Jim

I'm just a bit befuddled by it, tbh.  The 'erasing women' angle is absolutely tiny and it really does look like homo-bashing from where I'm standing, but I'm not a Glinner expert.

That Teeside thing is just fucking bait though.

That was about surrogacy. Tbh there are legitimate feminist concerns around surrogacy and it obviously *can* be exploitative in certain circumstances. But BC here uniquely has conflated that with adoption (the article actually says "fostering-to-adoption" which surely is the best scenario possible). He's basically saying that gay couples shouldn't have kids under any circumstances. Yes, it's pure homophobia.

The #NotOurCrimes hashtag is really, really revealing of their attitudes. They think that a crime committed by one person within a certain demographic reflects badly on all people within that demographic. The driving force behind racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism etc.  It's classic bigotry.

The #sexnotgender thing is a bit shit as well I think. They are saying women are killed for their sex and not their gender but firstly I am not sure how you can be sure that is true. Do killers check chromosomes before they murder? The whole concept of sex and gender is so intrinsically linked isn't it? Certainly in society today and for the last few thousand years. Just wishing it away doesn't help anyone.

And I am not sure what their goals is really? Does it harm cis women if trans women are included in the stats? The ironic thing is that they probably already are as there is no recording of trans status in deaths I don't think, which is why the "0 trans deaths" thing is such a load of shit.

Pink Gregory

Quote from: DreadedScotsman on November 25, 2021, 01:25:07 PMThey argue that they are critical of stereotypical gender roles and that men and women should be able to be masculine or feminine without being "transed".

See, this is what Ms. Gregory believes (ovbs. she wouldn't use the word 'transed'), and I think there's some merit to the theory that if some trans people could be happy in a largely genderfluid society without having to physically transition, that would be good.

Of course she accepts that that's not the case for a lot of trans people, and that we don't live in that society, and that access to transition and healthcare is minimal to say the least.

She's not a TERF, naturally, but she is more defensive of the older feminists who pick up on the narratives of 'not being able to say woman any more', 'male' bodies in women's spaces etc etc

And I can sympathise a bit, because she does know more about it than me, but then it's impossible to have that conversation when a lot of the engagement is very clearly driven by grifters and bigots who don't want trans people to be visible, have rights or exist.  Or at least that's what I'm seeing.

To be fair that's a screenshot from Twitter, it's Huff Post Black Voices being clickbaity there.

"No mention of the mother" is LOLsome.

i mean, society being as it is currently, there do exist nonbinary and genderqueer people of many different stripes as well as non-op binary trans people. some trans people are happy without having to physically transition
