808 State were one of the electronic acts I grew up listening to. I was glad they started making their own stuff again recently but after this sad news it feels like a waste they had such a long gap.

During Covid he made a point of talking through how some of their best records were made and it was really interesting and brought it right down to earth.

We lost Astro ex ub40 and Andy from 808 state in the same weekend. 808 state remixed one in ten by UB40 back in the early 90s. Both died after a "short illness"

Yeah, UB40s TOTP performance of One in Ten was on telly past week and immediately thought about 808 State.

All rather sad.

Never been a big fan but I remember him when 808 State did "Dance Yourself To Death" on Snub TV and I thought he looked really cool (and that was great track).

My sister saw them last week and had a great time, I assume he wasn't there.
