Not generally a fan of Matt Berry, but this sounds right up my street. Very reminiscent of post-Gabriel 70s era Genesis. Vinyl only, though, which is a pisser, and a limited edition of 200 for £25 each, so I guess I'll be looking for it on Soulseek. Really not on board with this sort of contrived rarity value bullshit.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Is he planning to buy a load himself and sell them on ebay for inflated prices? he's never off the telly, so I assume he doesn't need 5000 quid desperately.

Famous Mortimer

The snippets on the trailer video sound decent, but only making 200 of them is a puzzler. No evidence of a digital release, either (Berry doesn't need the cash, but you'd think his bandmates wouldn't mind a few quid from it).

I think there must be a digital release planned down the line, otherwise it's just pointless grandiosity to limit it to 200 copies, in a format that most people won't have the equipment to play. If not, I hope at least one of the 200 copies goes to someone who doesn't mind sharing it in digital form.

Where does it say they're making only 200? At any rate, I just pre-ordered the thing, so yay me either way.

Brundle-Fly

The Blue Elephant (previous album) is corking nu-sike btw.

Could be a nod to those private press prog records like Forever Amber that'd be funded by some dissolute marquis somewhere.

On the facebook page, specifically here: https://www.facebook.com/MilkBoneDebutAlbum/videos/243619851160939

To be fair it does say "initially." I presume they're intending to do a larger run later, and hopefully a digital release.

Yeah, like Matt Berry could do anything as good as this cutting edge synergism of modern technology:
