Manchester 17th show now moved to Salford on the 20th, venue is the Lowry. Tickets selling crazy fast (looks like this was only announced today) but still some good seats left:

Looks like we'll just have to keep checking Fane's site and their Twitter for new dates, this all seems a bit last minute.

Another nice long read with an extract from the book:

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2022/feb/19/bob-odenkirk-better-call-saul-heart-attack-interview

QuoteOdenkirk's mainstream fame may come from his role as the shady lawyer Saul Goodman in the hit drama Breaking Bad, and then in its spin-off prequel Better Call Saul – Odenkirk is about to finish shooting the final scenes – but his book is unapologetically for comedy geeks. It is the reason he named it Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama, he says – so as not to disappoint those who might pick it up hoping for insights into a thespian career.

Odenkirk could talk comedy for hours; when we discuss why he has such anglophile tastes, he painstakingly explores why it works. (It's the "straight line", he explains; the specifically English idea of decorum, which is easy to distort for laughs, "whereas we don't have that. We're Americans.")

Sounds like he'd be great value at a CaB meet. Looking forward to my copy arriving.

Thank you for posting this, Blue Jam. I was worried I'd miss the tickets (or end up with bad seats) but I've just got a couple in Row H.

colacentral

Yeah, thanks for the heads up, I've been waiting for it to be announced.

Blue Jam

Cheers peeps, I hope you have a wonderful time!

Quote from: Ron Superior on January 26, 2022, 09:59:10 PMOh god. I'm already embarrassed about the very idea of [RHLSTP]. All of the American guests I've really liked [Richard Herring's] had on, he's been crap every time. David Cross, Maria Bamford, Michael Ian Black. It really shows up how limited his skills are, and without the good will of a Miles Jupp or a Richard Osman or whoever - who know Richard and are more prepared to run with his deliberately shit questions or leaving silences or whatever - and it's just a bit awkward and stilted.

Only just seen this, but Richard had David Cross on the podcast again a few weeks back:

https://www.rhlstp.co.uk/website.cgi?page=podcasts&id=1537

Not a bad interview this. I like the bit about how, ten days after having a coronary angioplasty and spending some time in a medically-induced coma, Bob went to see David in New York and decided the best way to get across town would be by cycling... 'kin 'ell Bob, slow down. Also David saying it's a shame he and Bob aren't gay because they'd have made a great couple, but that goes without saying ;) And then Richard replies with "I had a comedy partner, but our friendship isn't as close as yours..." *ooof*

ramsobot

Got to see Bob in Brooklyn last night for this and it was a perfect Q&A. Bob had the runway space to just talk about his life which gave the discussion a rambly, dinner chat feeling. He seemed like a genuinely caring guy as he interacted with audience questions. And he had a pair of fun, simple bits planned, and there was a surprise bonus pre-recorded Q from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. 10/10

Ta for the summary, ramsobot! Who was the interviewer?

Quote from: DrGreggles on March 01, 2022, 11:36:28 AMHe's in Ely on my birthday!

Oh Bob, why won't you announce these tour dates properly GODDAMNIT? ;)

Nothing announced for their Embra bookshop yet but will keep my eyes peeled, cheers. And have a great time, Dr G!

Book's out today incidentally. I wondered why the signed copy I pre-ordered isn't here before realising that while the Kindle edition is out now the hardback won't follow until the 15th. Looks like the audiobook is out now though, think I might finally do the free trial of Audible and grab From The OastHouse and Bob Mortimer's book while I'm at it.

SteveDave

Is there any news on who's interviewing him for this? Or is it just him by himself?

UK dates still listed as "In conversation with TBD" so it isn't just him by himself.

Quote from: Blue Jam on March 01, 2022, 12:35:57 PMTa for the summary, ramsobot! Who was the interviewer?
It was film critic Alan Sepinwall. Bob was ready to go and I'm not exaggerating when I say Alan only got to speak for 1% of the thing. I imagine that balance changes if the other person is a comedy peer.

Blue Jam

Thanks for the reply- and Alan Sepinwall is a Gilliganverse megafan, I bet he had a million questions he didn't get to ask!

I reckon David Stubbs might be a good interviewer for the London date. Obviously seeing Bob Mortimer there would be a joyous thing.

The "In conversation with..." name for the LA/virtual show on the 9th of March is Jack Black:

https://livetalksla.org/events/bob-odenkirk/

Sounds like it could a fun evening!

Jay Johnston for Washington pls

Blue Jam

Also he's announced a book signing in London and another show in Liverpool:

http://bobodenkirk.com/

Sounds like a flying visit, really hope he makes it to Scotland!

JamesTC

Ahh brilliant! Didn't think he would come to Liverpool as he'd already announced Manchester. Booked myself a ticket and then mentioned it to my dad, and now he has asked me to book him and my step-mum tickets too.

Blue Jam

I'd go to the Liverpool date just to hear people repeatedly saying Bob's surname in a Scouse accent.

Really hope he does a few dates further north and when I'm actually in the country, getting well jel of youse!

Rob Delaney is the interviewer for the London date.

Just saw Bob on the Portland stop of his book tour - lovely fellow, with a lot to say about the craft of comedy, Del Close, Chris Farley, his heart "incident" and this TV show I guess he does. They didn't pick the question I wrote for the end-of-show Q & A, but he
did single me out as the only person in the 850-seat venue who knew what The Framley Examiner was, so, yay me.

McChesney Duntz

Incidentally, it looks like Bob (and his son Nate) have written a podcast which features much of the Mr. Show crew and other comedy luminaries...

Have a great time you lucky effer ;)

@The Mollusk , are you going to the book signing at Waterstones Picadilly? I am slightly anxious about the prospect of The Bob coming to the UK and you not meeting him.

He's not coming to Scotland is he? Bah... but if he is, could someone please bump this thread ASAFP?

He wasn't, unfortunately. But my ticket included an autographed copy of his book (it was a really large ticket), so, not bad and all.
